Android operating system has caught up really well and a large number of devices run android. Due to the success of this operating system, a large number of apps are available for the platform. Well we aren’t going to talk much about what apps we have got on android. Instead we are going to talk about some of the apps that relate to your car. Not all of them have the same purpose but they all revolve around the common denominator here. Some of our very favourite car apps are listed here.
Car Home Ultra
This is an excellent app if you drive around a lot. It makes it much easier to use your mobile device in the car as it has been designed to be used when your mobile is placed in its dock. You can handle a large number of functions using the voice commands only which is great thing. It displays a lot of information that could be important at the moment like the location, heading, and temperature. It has got many automation features as well. This app makes using your mobile device safer in the car though we still won’t recommend taking your eyes off the road. It disabled the Wi-Fi of your device and turn on Bluetooth automatically to connect to the car audio system. You can set up large tiles that would be displayed on the default screen. These tiles could be an action specific to the app, a shortcut or a link heading to another app. It can be set to launch as your launcher so that the home key lands you at the Car Home screen. Now this isn’t really a radical app but if you have a slightly older car which misses features like touchscreen infotainment system, you might want to try this one. It is available as a 30 day trial at first and then you can buy a full version of the application.
This is another great car app which helps you keep track of your car. It is an all in one application that would allow you to log your car maintenance, mileage, expenses, trips and services to maintain proper statistics about the vehicle. It is available in multiple languages and supports importing data from various other sources. It can also export data for use by other apps. You might lose track of when you got your car serviced last or how many kms have been run since you last got a fuel refill but this app would remember so that you can look up when required. It has got extensive graphs and charts indicating various parameters related to your car. On this app, you can also set reminders to notify you about upcoming events like services and insurance renewal. The app is available for free but if you are willing to use the backup and restore feature, you would have to donate which is worth it if you are looking to use it long time.
Just like the name suggests, this app is meant to help you locate your car after you park it. There are times when the parking spot looks entirely different in a matter of couple of hours and you might have trouble finding your car in such cases. So this app records where you parked your car and helps you find your way back when required. It has a details mode which tells you how long your car has been parked. While walking back, this app also tells you the direction you need to head into and the distance to your car. There is a map mode as well which simply shows a map of the location. While this app is really nice with lot of good features, there are minor issues which might be fixed soon by the developers. These issues are really minor like the GPS location taking a while to update. The app allows you to have a free trial first so before you go ahead and buy it, you can download the trial version and get the full version if you end up liking it. Honk is a similar app which is available for iOS and offers a couple more features.
