5 Global Car Brands Expected To Hit Indian Market In Future

Snapshot: Car manufacturers see India as an attractive destination for making investments. Growing economy, rising middle class makes it one of the best option among many. So which brands expected to make their way into the country? We have prepared a list

India now has much more car options than it used to, and they are from the brands that have now found their feet in the market. For the newer brands the elusive Indian market remains a mystery still. However, it’s expected that a few sister companies of existing brands may foray into the market in near future. Which are those brands? We have a look.

Daihatsu

Daihatsu was acquired by Toyota recently and is now a fully owned subsidiary of the Toyota Brand. The manufacturer is oldest among all Japanese car makers and specialises in small cars and off-road vehicles.

The company also manufactures commercial vehicles and has long running programs for electric vehicles and hybrids. The fact that it has pulled out from other world markets and already shares many platforms with Toyota, makes it an ideal choice for India entrance.

Since Toyota is already having a firm foot hold, it should be relatively easy for Daihatsu to establish itself.

Kia

Kia motors belong to the same country as the Hyundai, and Kia is South Korea’s second largest car manufacturer. Kia has good presence in Europe and may enter India by 2019.

The manufacturer is known for its compact cars and luxury sedans. Kia Motors was ranked first for reliability in the United States this year by market research company J.D. Power making it the first non luxury car manufacturer since 1989.

Since Hyundai holds a major stake in Kia, cracking the market should not be issue considering Hyundai’s large foot print which is now the second largest car manufacturer.

Acura

We all know that Acura is Honda’s premium brand that is uses to sell car through Europe. It’s the brand that inspired the others like Lexus from Toyota and Infiniti from Nissan. Chances are that Acura may also make its way into India. Some of the premium car that it makes includes the NSX, RLX, TSX, TLX etc. Honda uses the brand to compete with German rivals like BMW, Audi etc.

With sales of luxury cars constantly on the rise in India, Acura may present itself as an alternative option and start operations in India soon.

Lexus

Like Acura, Lexus is Toyota’s luxury car division. The brand Lexus was born out of a project named F1 which gave the first car Lexus LS in the year 1982. The company has since added many successful cars to its name and manufactures sedans, convertibles, SUVs and coupes.

At times Lexus has been one among top selling luxury car maker led by the German trio and has been ranked among top ten largest Japanese brands by value. The brand `also owns a performance division F Marque much like Abarth, AMG etc.

Genesis

In addition to Kia, Hyundai might also bring Genesis brand to India for luxury car buyers. However this may not happen until 2020 and it may only happen if the market shows maturity. Genesis began as a luxury car and was transformed into a brand after successful market response.

The Genesis G90 was also showcased at the Auto Expo this year in India. It’s expected that over a course of five years the brand would also add two SUVs, a sports coupe, a luxury sedan to its portfolio bringing the total model count to six.
