5 Most Underrated Bikes in India

5 Most Underrated Bikes in India

Snapshot: Here we have compiled 5 such bikes for which we wish to create a memorable stand in the minds of Indian Customers.

With the recent increase in demand for motorcycles in India; two-wheel manufacturer like Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki has introduced different motorcycles to meet the requirement of their respective customers. Some of these products are performance oriented, while some are launched to fulfil the need of commuter class, and then there are motorcycles that lie between them which have noteworthy power and are equal, if not better, than the other motorcycles of its class. Despite rivalling shoulder to shoulder with some of the best sellers in its class, these bikes are almost underrated or unheard among buyers.

Yamaha R3
Launched in 2015, the YZF-R3 is the most magnificent bike after Yamaha R15 from the Company’s product portfolio. For all riders who are planning to upgrade to a sport-class, this is one bike you do not want to miss. Though the performance of the R3 is unquestionable, the sales figures will tell you an entirely different story. The high price tag of Rs 3.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) is restricting the success path of R3, which otherwise could have been the best entry level sports bike available in the country.

Kawasaki ER6N
Many of you might not even be heard of the Kawasaki ER6N motorcycle. It is practically the same bike as Ninja 650 but without the fairing and different headlight assembly. Despite its great performance and attractive price tag the ER6N failed to attract eyeballs of the buyers. The prime reasons could be the lack of colour options and ABS, weak promotion and ordinary of styling. The ER6N is a smart machine which looks muscular and quite aggressive from certain angles. The absence of fairing has helped the ER-6N to lose a staggering 7 kgs of weights and that is a significant number which has helped this 650cc motorcycle to gain better acceleration, agility, and braking. Kawasaki was among the very first to offer an Indian bike enthusiast a 650cc, naked street motorcycle that is torquey,  comfortable and will cost you less than Rs 5 lakh.

Hero Impulse
The Hero Impulse was the very first product by Hero MotorCorp after splitting from its Japanese Partner Honda Motorcycles. For our uneven and broken roads, Hero introduced Impulse, a Dual-sport 150cc motorcycle that created quite a storm as the only off-roader motorcycle on sale at the time. Its rugged looks and go-anywhere capability make it a very practical motorcycle for Indian roads. In the initial phase, the motorcycle did attract buyers but could not manage to pick up in terms of sales numbers. One of the prime factors attributing to this fact is that the customers were not willing to pay the required amount for the bike which has a 150cc engine.

Suzuki GS150R
Launched in 2009, GS150R is Suzuki’s answer to Bajaj Pulsar 150 and 180. This 150cc motorcycle was equipped with notable features such as digital instrumental console, gas charged rear shock absorber, and 6-speed gearbox, making GS150 be the only motorcycle to have such feature at that time. Even after introducing a great motorcycle in the domestic market, the GS 150R could not manage to pull of strongly, why? Well, it was due to the fact that in comparison to its rival, Suzuki had a very limited reach in mass market at that time, and after the success of Gixxer models, this bike might be dying a slow death.

Honda CBR 250R
Honda CBR250R is the most affordable and practical entry level sports bike available in Indian two-wheeler market. Its decent power figures and manageable ergonomics gave this bike a great start, but with the introduction of more performance oriented motorcycles such as KTM RC 200 and Duke 200 have resulted in a sharp decline in terms of sales numbers, also its conventional design and lack of features landed CBR in a not so impressive place. Otherwise, if we are talking about most comfortable, practical bikes for daily riding and touring, the Honda CBR 250 R would have topped the list.
