We are not bugs, we are not invisible, we are as significant as you folks driving cars and texting. We are there on the road, probably closer than we appear to you. And no, we do not suddenly appear out of nowhere, you just need to pay more attention to your blind spots and expand your peripheral vision.
The sad part is most of you don’t even unfold your rear view mirrors, and if you are really one of those then telling you about blind spots will be no better than hitting our heads on a wall.
Imagine how bad car companies feel about the fact that half of the drivers don’t even know about this lifesaving feature called ‘Direction Indicators’. No, it not only saves your life but others too.
Bike crashes are more deadly than the car:
We know what you’re thinking, a crash is a crash, and it can always be fatal. But bike riding is way more risky than driving. We have no airbags, no roll cage that can save us, and certainly no seat belts. All we have is a helmet and leathers. A car hitting a standstill bike or a bike hitting a standstill car, in both the scenarios the biker will be at much more risk.
Do not be jealous:
We understand that you are probably jealous of us when we ride every day and when we don’t get stuck in jams and ride in groups, and when we don’t have to wait in long ques to pay our highway toll taxes, and when our exhausts scream out the cheer of freedom and when our jackets are way cooler than your suit and ties and when we don’t have to wait for parking spaces to clear up. We understand that, but it doesn’t mean you should hate us.
You think we are suffering when we get wet in rains, burning in the sun and you think we hope for a car instead of bikes, but guess what, we do not. We enjoy the sun, we enjoy wet leathers and the smell of rain. We enjoy those raindrops on our visors and that sense of freedom.
We are traveling like you, just looking cooler:
You probably think we are all the same freaks when we ride in groups, you may even think we’re a menace, but guess what? You don’t need to. We are humans just like you, just free in our own way, free from the shackles of that four-wheeled air-conditioned cabin.
You should rather be thankful to us because we are saving space for all of you. Imagine what will happen if all the motorcyclists end up driving cars. It will be a chaos, isn’t it?
And at the same time even 10% of you turn to motorcycles, the result is 40% less congestion on roads. And if even 25% of you swapped their cars with motorcycles then there won’t be any congestion at all. Do you now see how much we are helping you on your daily commute?
Look twice, save a Life:
It doesn’t cost you a thing, probably a second more, to look twice or thrice before taking a sudden turn, but it may cost us our life. Eight out of ten accidents happen because drivers don’t see that motorcycle.
Even we are somebody’s husband, somebody’s son, daughter, wife and yes that somebody is waiting for us back home. Like you wait for somebody else.
