Airbags– your friend in need and deed in automotive safety!

Snapshot: Drive Safe - Be Safe !

All of us like to be safe and us at Autoportal hope that life’s drives are always rewarding. Here are a few tips on airbags, which are an essential lifesaver, in case something untoward happens!

Airbag Light: This is generally a red symbol on the dashboard which goes out in a few seconds – if it stays on, then have the system immediately checked by your vehicle’s dealer…do NOT delay!

Distance: Never sit too close to an airbag, whether it is the driver or the passenger side. Sit as far away as you physically can. Even for shorter stature drivers, sit as far away as possible

Child Seat: Never fit a child seat on the front passenger seat if the car has an airbag. This could cause grievous injury.

Dashboard: Do not put knick-knacks on the dashboard or in the vicinity of the airbag – this could disrupt its functioning

Age: If your car is getting old and is approaching the 10-year mark, get the unit checked.

While cars today are getting safer, Indian manufacturers often cut costs like putting in airbags etc. only on higher variants of cars. But always try and buy a vehicle with at least a driver and passenger airbag. Remember: safety should never be compromised!
