Snapshot: As 2016 comes to an end, we bring you the best of the best cars from different categories, which were launched in 2016.

Autoportal is proud to present the list of winners for the best cars in the respective categories of our 'Autoportal Best Car Awards 2017'. Within a short period of time, Autoportal has created its own space as a credible car reviewing website in India. And after reviewing 100's of cars over the course of last 36 months, we thought we were ready for our own awards, though, in a completely new way.

As 2016 comes to an end, we bring you the best of the best cars from different categories, which were launched in 2016. Here's the list of the winners along with the video of the Autoportal Awards 2017.

Best Design of the year

Winner - Hyundai Tucson

One never associates an SUV with being beautiful and design marvel. In fact, an SUV is designed to be as butch and as bulky as possible. And this is why the all-new Hyundai Tucson is the winner of this category. Hyundai has managed to give the Tucson SUV an appealing yet eye-catching appeal. Words and images won't do justice to how good the SUV looks in person. Go have a look.

Best Value For Money car of the year

Winner - Renault Kwid AMT

As if the Renault Kwid 800 cc and 1000 cc variants were not enough, Renault launched the AMT version of the popular hatchback in the country. Priced a little over Rs 4 lakhs, the Renault Kwid offers most of the things that even  most of the cars from a segment above don't offer, hence the best VFM car. E.g Touchscreen navigation, 180mm ground clearance, 300L boot and much more.

Best Variant of the year

Winner - Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire AGS

Maruti Suzuki surely knows how to keep a product in demand, and especially the best-selling products like the Swift Dzire compact sedan. The sedan has always remained the top-seller in the country, selling more than 15000 units a month for years now. And now, Maruti has added an AMT gearbox to the sedan and that too with a diesel engine. You won't get a sedan in this price range with such functionality. Hence our Variant of the year award. 

Best Premium SUV of the year

Vehicle - Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson wins yet another award and this time for the best Premium SUV of the year. Price at around Rs 18 lakhs, the Hyundai Tucson not only looks good, but is a credible SUV if you plan to buy a SUV that's not too big, but ain't the compact size either. 

Best Performance car of the year

Winner - Audi R8 V10 Plus

Time and again we have asserted that Audi R8 is one of the best sportscar out there. And no, it's not about the speed or the looks, it's due to the fact that the Audi R8 is one of the most practical and supercar out there. And this year, Audi refreshed the R8, added a V10 to it and bumped its power too. This has helped Audi break the Indian land speed record set by ace Indian racer Aditya Patel. 

Best MPV of the year

Winner - Toyota Innova Crysta

It has to be the Toyota Innova Crysta and who else. Yes, the MPV of the year award goes to the all-new Toyota Innova Crsyta. Showcased first at the 2016 Auto Expo, New Delhi in a completely new avatar, the most-selling MPV got a drastic change both inside and outside. Within the first month of its launch, the Crysta clocked 7000+ units, even with the NCR's 2.0L diesel ban. 

Best Sedan of the year

Winner - Hyundai Elantra

Another Hyundai on the list the new Elantra sedan. The premium sedan won our prestigious sedan of the year award because of several reasons. The new Elantra looks good, comes equipped with a host of new features and drives really well. The matter of the fact that there were no new compact sedan launched, made the Elantra a winner by clear shot. 

Best Upgraded car of the year

Winner - Honda Amaze

Every year, manufacturers launch an upgraded model of their existing cars to keep them rolling on the roads. One such product that caught our fancy was the new Honda Amaze compact sedan, which has been awarded the Best Upgraded car of the year. Reason being - it has a good looking and premium cabin now and looks good too. Add to it the generous space and mileage figures, it is one of the most sorted sedan in India. 

Best Manufacturer of the year

Winner - Maruti Suzuki India Ltd

While Indian automotive industry was affected by a negative environment for business thanks to policies like banning of 2.0L diesel engines in NCR and Demonetization, one manufacturer came out strongly to overcome all the odds. Well, Maruti Suzuki achieved yet another milestone by snatching 53% market share in the country, making it the unbeatable king in India. And then there were some good launches too! 

Best SUV of the year

Winner - Ford Endeavour

This may come as a shocker to many, but believe us, Ford Endeavour has 'Trumped' all-new Toyota Fortuner out of the equation. The new Ford Endeavour, also known as Everest in many countries is the best SUV in India today and that too under Rs 30 lakhs and hence our SUV of the year award for it. Do dive it to know it! 

Best Hatchback of the year

Winner - Tata Tiago

It has to be Tata Tiago and who else? Our Hatchback of the year award goes to Tata Tiago. Tata launched a stunner this year in the form of the Tiago hatchback. The hatchback comes with equipped with a variety of features like Harman audio system, navigation system and many other new-age equipments. Moreover, the hatchback is priced at a range between Rs 3.20 - Rs 5.50 lakhs.

Best Driver's Car of the year

Winner - Jaguar XE

Jaguar, the British luxury car manufacturer owned by Tata Motors developed a completely new car keeping in mind developing nations like India. The entry level sedan for the brand, not only is priced strategically, but also drives immensely good. Hence our Best Driver's Car of the year award. 

Best Luxury car of the year

Winner - Volvo S90

Volvo S90 is a stunner from every angle possible, be it the exteriors or the interiors. The newly launched flagship sedan took the luxury car sedan market by storm thanks to its safety features, exhaustive features list and good looks. Hence our Best Luxury Car of the year award. 

Best Technology Car of the year

Winner - Honda Accord Hybrid

Honda launched quite a few models of the Accord sedan over the years. In the end, Honda chose to stick with the Hybrid version only and launched the new sedan this year. The new Honda Accord Hybrid comes with a variety of technology options that makes it our Best Technology of the year car award winner. 

Car of the year

Winner - Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Last but not the least is the prestigious Car of the Year award and we have chosen all-new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza compact SUV for this covenant award. The Vitara Brezza SUV is the most sorted compact sized SUV in the market which offers a balanced performance, ride quality, features and pricing. To top it all is the Maruti's trusted brand name. Hence our award to this marvelous car!
