With the end of the year 2017, Autoportal is proud to present the list of winners for the best cars in the respective categories of our 'Autoportal Best Car Awards 2018'. Within a short period of time, Autoportal has created its own space as a credible car reviewing portal in India. And after reviewing 100's of cars over the course of last 4 years, we are back with the Best car awards from different categories, which were launched in 2017. Here's the list of the winners along with the video of the Autoportal Best Car Awards 2018.
Car of the year
Winner – Hyundai Verna
Hyundai introduced the new Verna as head turner. This premium sedan won our prestigious Car of the year award because of several reasons. The new Verna looks good, comes equipped with a host of new features being first-in-segment and gets a blend of performance and ride quality and a good price point, made the Elantra a winner by clear shot.
Best Crossover of the year
Winner – Honda WR-V
Honda WR-V has taken many hearts with its edgy design and the only model in its segment that is offered with a sunroof. While Honda’s I-votes have been tried and trusted with no-nonsense Aftersales backup. The Honda WR-V is the most sorted crossover in the market which offers a balanced performance, ride quality, features and pricing. Hence, the winner of the Best crossover of the year award winner.
Best Compact Sedan of the year
Winner – Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the car that has always been on the top 10 selling chart every month. This compact sedan was introduced this year with fresh looks and you must have heard of power bump in a model, but this one gets mileage bump. And one of the best fuel efficient car in its segment, making it the winner of the Best compact sedan of the year award.
Best SUV of the year
Winner – Ford EcoSport
This may come as a shocker to many, but believe us, Ford EcoSport has 'Trumped' many of its rivals. The 1.5L dragon series petrol engine makes all the equations to neutral to its competitors. The car gets around 1600 changes in it. If you still doubt of owning an SUV at such price point, do drive it to know it!
Best Hatchback of the year
Winner – Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Maruti Suzuki Ignis is definitely the best choice for our Best Hatchback of the year award. Launched in its global design, the Ignis seems compact from outside, but inside it is still more spacious. The hatchback comes with equipped with a variety of features like Tab-like info system with inbuilt navigation and many other new-age equipments.
Best Premium SUV of the year
Winner – Jeep Compass
Jeep Compass wins the best Premium SUV of the year. Price at between 15 lakh to 22 lakh, the Compass not only looks good, but is a credible SUV if you plan to buy a SUV that's not too big, but ain't the compact size either.
Best Luxury car of the year
Winner – BMW 5 Series
BMWs has always been known for sheer driving, but the 5 Series adds the pleasure of luxury as well. It is a stunner from every angle possible, be it the exteriors or the interiors. The newly launched flagship sedan took the luxury car sedan market by storm thanks to its safety features, exhaustive features list and good looks, making it our Best Luxury Car of the year award winner.
Best Upgraded car of the year
Winner – Honda City
Every year, manufacturers launch an upgraded model of their existing cars to keep them rolling on the roads. One such product that caught our fancy was the new Honda City sedan, which has been awarded the Best Upgraded car of the year. Reason being - it has a good look of its big brother Accord and premium cabin now as it always had. Add to it the generous space and mileage figures, it is one of the most sorted sedan in the country.
Best Variant of the year
Winner – Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
Maruti Suzuki surely knows how to keep a product in demand, and one the best-selling products like the Baleno and to add more thrust to its drive, the automaker came out with the more sporty Baleno RS. With a power bump and suspension retuning, it gets more oomph than the regular model. Hence our Variant of the year award.
Best Design of the year
Winner – Tata Nexon
One never associates a crossover with being beautiful and design marvel. In fact, crossovers are mostly designed to be as butch and as bulky as possible. And this is why the Tata Nexon is the winner of this category. Tata has managed to give the Nexon an appealing yet eye-catching appeal. Best Luxury SUV of the year
Winner – Volkswagen Tiguan
The Tiguan is one such product that boasts of features of luxury in an SUV – leather seats, panaromic sunroof, drive select with all wheel drive system and VW’s 2.0L TDI, has always been a reliable powertrain.
Best Performance car of the year
Winner – Audi S5
This time Audi S5 have been asserted as the Best Performance car of the year and is a practical as well as a performance car. Not only it gets a 3.0L petrol unit but a sporty interior as well and indeed making it an everyday performance car out there.
Best Supercar of the year
Winner – Nissan GT-R
Nissan GT-R or Godzilla! What will you prefer to call it? This mean machine seems simple, but once you get behind the wheels, you will come to know the reality. Only five master craftsmen in the world are allowed to hand-assemble the GT-R’s engine and affixed with their name on the engine itself. This car can bolt 100kmph in around 3 seconds with a jaw dropping thrust delivered to all four wheels that makes it Best Supercar of the year winner.
Best 4X4 of the year
Winner – Tata Hexa
Everyone thinks that a good 4X4 car come with a premium badging and what if you get this at a good price. Tata Hexa is one such option that has made its way to Best 4X4 car winner this year, as it also get other goodies, making it the best contender to the first spot among its rivals.
