Benelli India has launched the Benelli TRK 502 siblings at a time when the Indian motorcycle market was desperately looking for a middleweight adventure tourer. This is the very first launch by Benelli after announcing a partnership with Adishwar Auto Ride, a subsidiary of Mahavir Group. The two variants, namely Benelli TRK 502 and Benelli TRK 502X, are built to provide the riders with long leisure rides and boast a number of features. For those not in the know, Benelli TRK 502 is a road-based model and the 502X is a hardcore off-road version of the two.

Benelli TRK 502 India launch happened earlier this week in Mumbai and online booking for the TRK range of motorcycles has begun; customers can book any of these models by depositing a sum of Rs. 10,000. One can avail this booking amount to purchase accessories or apparels on the time of delivery of the machines. Benelli has also promised that it's just the start and they will be launching a number of other motorcycles in the Indian market this year, ultimately expanding their product portfolio. So, here are the top 5 things that you need to know about Benelli's adventure-tourer siblings.

Benelli TRK 502 images reveal that the bikes look rugged and off-road ready with the big fairings, tall windshield, extended front suspension, meaty tyres, stepped seats and comfortable ergonomics. The headlamp unit with DRLs gives the bike an aggressive and bold look. It also gets a huge 20 L fuel tank so that you can continue with your journey and spend less time at the fuel stops. The Benelli TRK 502 range is available in three colour options - Graphite Grey, White and Red. The above-mentioned elements provide the TRK 502 range with a commanding road presence and complete ADV styling.

The Benelli TRK 502 specifications for both the models include the same 500 cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor. The fuel-injected mill produces 48 bhp at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 46 Nm at 6000 rpm. It gets a slick 6-speed gearbox. One thing to note here is that the above-mentioned figures are satisfactory but the bike's kerb weight is around 235 kg, which makes the power-to-weight ratio of the ADVs a little worrisome.

Benelli has tried to equip the TRK 502 range with some riding aides, like switchable ABS (only at the rear) with 320 mm (Dual Discs) at the front and 260 mm (Single Disc) at the rear. As mentioned earlier, Benelli TRK 502 is a road-based model and comes with 17 inch alloy wheels shod with  Pirelli Angel ST tyres at the front and back. The 502X is equipped with a 19-inch spoked rim at the front and 17-inch spoked rim at the back, wrapped in premium Metzeler tyres, keeping in mind the off-road character of the motorcycle. The siblings also get a 50 mm USD forks at the front and a vertically positioned mono-shock at the back. The Benelli TRK 502X also gets knuckle guards, bash plate and an upswept exhaust.

Mechanical Components

The engine is housed in a traditional Benelli tubular steel trellis frame that guarantees uncompromised agility when the going gets tough. The siblings provide an upright riding triangle with adjustable front suspension and rear mono-shock with rebound and pre-load adjustments. The 6-speed gearbox gets a wet clutch derived from Benelli's Leoncino 500 and makes the gear shifting an ease.

The Benelli TRK 502 range is a true middle-weight adventure tourer when it comes to engine capacity and the attached pricing. Benelli TRK 502 price is Rs. 5,00,000 (ex-showroom) and Benelli TRK 502X price is Rs. 5,40,000. The aggressive pricing has made the siblings sit below the Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs. 6, 69,000), SWM Superdual T (Rs. 7,46,000) and Suzuki V-Strom 650 (Rs. 7,46,000).
