Best Racing Games For 2014

Snapshot: Check out the list of the hottest racing video games of 2014.

Who doesn't like to take some time off the busy schedule and indulge in some activities they like. But few of us like to play, play video games and that too racing games. Here is the list of the hottest racing games of 2014.

Forza Horizons 2 – Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Slated for release September 30 this title from Microsoft and Turn 10 studios needs no introduction. The game revolves around the fictional Horizon Festival where player explore the open world of racing. With stunning graphics and realistic environments the game boasts fantastic visuals. And with its Drivatar technology, it would bring real world competitors as AI players to race against under dynamic weather environments.

Drive Club – PlayStation

Driveclub is Sony’s proprietary title set to launch on the Playstation 4 console as early as October 7. While the game has faced quite a few launch delays in the past, the new October deadline seems to be pretty realistic. Developed by MotorStorm Evolution Studios, the game will straddle the line between simulation and arcade gameplay style while keeping a major emphasis on building online car clubs and creating online racing teams.

Featuring dynamic weather like rain and snow, Driveclub would feature interesting driving situations, as the road and grip conditions would constantly keep varying with the weather active in the environment. This is one game that could have a great future as it could be seen clubbed in with Sony’s Project Morpheus virtual reality headset (still under testing) for a more realistic gaming experience.

Project Cars – Xbox, PlayStation, PC

Developers Slightly Mad Studios has collaborated with Bandai Namco to produce one of the most epic racing games for 2014. While originally eyed for launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360 the developers have moved their focus on the current generation consoles. Poised to launch by November, the game would be launched simultaneously on Xbox One, PS4, and PC while launching later in the year on Wii U and SteamOS.

Project cars would be a realistic driving simulation with players granded access to all the tracks and vehicles upfrom and being able to participate in multi-day events. So far the game features 67driveable cars and 52 race tracks as the developers still struggle to close in on licensing agreements with the concerned authorities.

With Sony’s Project Morpheus soon to become reality, combined with a proper racing wheel (Thrustmaster T80 RS) and a driving seat, Project Cars would very well be the most ultimate racing simulator the world has seen till date. Watch out for this one!

WRC 4

This is the official game of the World Rally Championship and thought a bit difficult to start off with its heck immersive as you go along. With official cars, drivers and stages, one can race upto 3 other placers in the same room or race with 16 players in an online event. While the game has great graphics, there is something unrealistic about the sound effects. Although on the same level its predecessor WRC 3, this game is equal fun in every way.

Grid Autosport – Playstation, Xbox, PC

This is the closest that any game comes to the pro racecar driver feel. Contrasting from its predecessor Grid 2 which was more on street racing, Autosport takes it back to the track for some uncompromised racing action. While the cabin view is pretty low key and lacks customization options, Autosport is Codemasters best effort yet to bring the genere back into play.

With the games driving dynamics fine tuned between arcade and simulation, every small change effects the vehicle dynamics in a pretty significant way. That said, turning off the driver aids can attain the most fun as you consume racing with a slight feather weighted approach.

F1 2014

As sad it is to see the real world Formula1 cars being piped down and turbocharged the same fate goes with the latest version of Codemasters F1 2014. Arriving on October 17, the game is initially set to launch on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC and would feature a set of new circuits, this game is the closest one can get to a POV view out of a Formula1 cars cockpit. While featuring bettered graphics that its previous version, the developers have tweaked the handing characteristics of the cars to a much more realistic stance.
