The Figo has been one of the best car in India from Ford. It has received a few facelifts throughout its life and is all set to be replaced with a completely new Figo. The car has the best build quality in its class and offers very refined engines too. In the entry level hatchback segment, it competes with cars like Hyundai EON, Maruti Suzuki Alto, Nissan Micra Active etc.
We compare the Figo with the Nissan Micra Active which is the cheapest car that Nissan offers in India and see which one is the equipped better.
Ford Figo exteriors Vs Nissan Micra Active exteriors
The Figo is a smaller car of the two in terms of height and length. However, the Figo has a larger wheelbase and is also more wider. In the latest update, Ford provided the Figo with clear lens headlamps and redesigned the head lamp cluster within the same housing. Also, the new Figo now has a hexagonal shaped air dam and new styled fog lamps. The new design elements makes the car look fresh but whether it is indeed more beautiful than the car it replaced – it can be argued. There are almost no changes on the sides of the car and the rear too is essentially the same.
The Micra Active on the other hand is more feminine looking car and has been derived from the original Micra. The car is cheaper than the Micra and competes with other entry-level hatchbacks. The Micra Active has blackened headlights at front and plain looking bumper at front. On the sides, you will notice the distinct curvier and drooping C-pillar which provides the car its very distinctive look. The tailgate of the car too is very dramatic looking and small and curvy taillights work very well with other design elements. The car looks very retro and resembles Micra and Pulse from the sides and rear quarters. The car has large glass area all around and has the big car looks. In fact it would not be wrong to call it one of the most premium looking cars in the comparatively, more expensive, entry-level hatchback segment.
Ford Figo interiors Vs Nissan Micra Active interiors
The Figo has very innovative interiors and use a colour scheme that looks great. All the buttons seem to have been placed at right places and are of very nice quality. The centre console houses a 2 DIN music system with USB, Bluetooth and Aux-in compatibility. The control for music and telephone etc. are mounted on steering wheel. The Nissan Micra Active uses black and beige interiors which look aesthetically more beautiful than the Figo. However, the Micra Active misses out on the steering mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity, remote trunk opener, remote fuel lid opener, trunk light even on the highest spec model of car. If even by a small margin, the Micra Active feels roomier than the Figo. Both the cars have cup holders, glove box and space for knick knacks.
Ford Figo engine Vs Nissan Micra Active engine
The Figo comes with petrol as well diesel engine. The 1.2 litre Duratec petrol engine produces a peak power of 70.03bhp at 6250rpm and a maximum torque of 102Nm at 4000rpm and the 1.4 litre Duratorq diesel engine produces 68.05bhp at 4000rpm and peak torque of 160Nm at 2000rpm. Both the engines are coupled with a 5-speed gearbox.
The Nissan Micra only offers a petrol variant with a 1.2 litre engine which produces power of 67.04bhp at 5000rpm and torque of 104Nm at 4000rpm. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox as in the case of Ford Figo.
Ford Figo mileage Vs Nissan Micra Active mileage
The Figo is a heavy car despite its compact dimensions and it affects the fuel economy of the car. The petrol promises to delivers a mileage of 12.3kmpl in the city and 15.6kmpl on highways.
The Nissan Micra Active on the other hand is a comparatively lighter car and delivers an impressive 16.24kmpl in the city and 19.49kmpl on highways.
Ford Figo safety features Vs Nissan Micra Active safety features
The Figo uses ventilated disc brakes at front and drum brakes at rear. You get ABS (Antilock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), airbags, 3 point seatbelts for front and rear passengers, central locking, keyless entry, PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) etc. The equipment level is pretty impressive considering the price point at which this car sells.
The Micra Active is equally well equipped car and the top variant of the car offers all features like ABS, EBD, airbags, 3-point seatbelts, central locking, antitheft device etc.
Ford Figo misses out the emergency brake assist feature which the Nissan Micra Active is equipped with. Sadly, both the cars do not offer rear parking sensors on any model of their cars.
The Nissan Micra Active is indeed a beautiful looking car which is decently equipped too. The Figo matches it in almost every respect and there is nothing exceptional about Micra Active which Figo does not offer.
The Figo offers two engine options and is a winner for us since it offers a tank like built quality in a nice package which the Micra Active does not match.
