Apart from the better fuel efficiency that the compact cars offer, they also have two other great advanges - They are easy to maneuver and they take less parking space. The Honda Brio is one of the smallest car that you can buy in India. The car though is not aimed at other cars of similar sizes like the Alto 800 and Alto K10, it competes directly with the cars like Grand i10, Figo etc. for space since they more or less fall in the same price bracket.
We do a specification comparison of the cars and find out which is the better one.The specification comparison sheet has been prepared by comparing Honda Brio VX AT with the Hyundai Grand i10 AT Asta. Compare full features of the cars by clicking here.
Hyundai Grand i10 exteriors Vs Honda Brio exteriors
The Honda Brio is definitely the cutest car that is available in India. The car is just 3.6 meters long and is very compact to look at. Due to its cute and compact dimensions, it may appeal more to a certain set of customers. On the sides, you would notice there are strong creases and the rear houses triangular taillights which look really sharp. The Front has almond shaped headlights that match the other styling elements. The tail gate is made entirely of glass. The top version of the car comes with 14inch alloys that indeed look great.
The Grand i10 uses the Hyundai’s Fluidic design language and comes out as a very rounded and well-designed car. The car is premium and beautiful to look at. The creases and well sculptured bodylines make the car very taut to look at. There are swept back headlamps which make the front fascia look very unique.
The taillights cluster of the car compliment the front headlamps very well and overall the car looks well proportioned and taut. The top and mid variants of Grand i10 also get roof-rails which makes it look sporty. There is optional diamond cut alloy wheels on the top of the line, Asta variant. The low and mid variants comes equipped with 14in alloys.
Hyundai Grand i10 interiors Vs Honda Brio interiors
Honda Brio’s plastic quality is not great, the design is functional though. It gets features such as power windows, power steering, steering-mounted audio controls, and aux-in connectivity, four speakers, cup holders at the front and rear, etc. There are bench folding seats at the rear; despite this, the luggage compartment provides a meager space of 175 liters.
The design philosophy language makes its way into the Grand i10’s cabin too. The interiors are spacious, well designed and functional. There’s tremendous amount of space to keep your cellphone and other knick knacks. There is a digital clock, dual trip meter and features like engine running time and average vehicle speed which may be of help on long trips.
Hyundai Grand i10 has a great good audio system. Unlike the Brio, it offers Bluetooth connectivity and 1-GB internal memory. The top model of the Brio though offers Bluetooth connectivity as well as the navigation system which the Grand i10 does not offer. The rear AC vent present on the Grand i10 is of great use in the summers, the Brio does not offer this feature even on the top variant of the car. The Grand i10 also has a bigger boot at 256 litres in comparison to Brio.
Hyundai Grand i10 engine Vs Honda Brio engine
Honda does not offer diesel engine on the Brio and it uses a 1.2-litre i-vtec petrol engine which produces 86.8bhp of power at 6000rpm and 109Nm of torque at 4600rpm. The version we have compared, comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The Grand i10 offers a diesel engine as well as a petrol engine. The 1.2 litre VTVT petrol engine puts out a maximum power of 83bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 114Nm at 4000rpm. The petrol engine comes equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission. There’s an option of manual transmission on the petrol engine, the diesel engine comes equipped with a manual transmission only.
Hyundai Grand i10 mileage Vs Honda Brio mileage
The automatic variant of the Brio petrol should deliver 15.2kmpl in the city and 18.4kmpl on highways. The Grand i10 is not very far behind in comparison and promises to deliver 15.9kmpl in the city and 18.9kmpl on highways.
Hyundai Grand safety features Vs Honda Brio safety features
Both the cars use disc brakes at front and drum brakes on rear wheels and there are seat belts for all passengers. The Brio offers ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), central locking, child safety locks, engine immobilizer etc.
The Grand i10 misses out on airbags as well as other features like ABS and EBD which Brio provides. Perhaps you may want to go for the optional variant if you consider these features as more important.
The competition is close – no doubt. It cannot be said that one car is a clear winner over the other in an absolute sense. However, there are some disadvantages of the Brio which we consider are worth mentioning. The Brio has a small boot and does not offer the option of the diesel engine. Although, diesel engines have already lost some of their charm, due to the new regulations, which limit their life to 10 years. Not every customer may still wish to buy a petrol car; Brio is not for them who wish to buy a diesel car.
