Honda City Vs Maruti Ciaz (Design and Exterior)

On the outside, where the Honda city looks more futuristic and edgy, the new Maruti Ciaz has a more understated style. The chrome bits can be found all around on both the cars. Although there is nothing striking about the Ciaz’s styling and it looks plain in comparison to the futuristic looking Honda City, the Maruti has done an overall good job on the styling front and overall style of the car is unassuming.

The rear of the Ciaz however does not look ingenuous enough and it seems as if the designers took styling clues directly from the Honda city as the rear lights look strikingly similar to it. The boot space of both the cars is equal – 510Litres.

Honda City Vs Maruti Ciaz (Interior and Features)

Flush and clutter-free design is a sort of common philosophy that is very prevalent and is adopted by all designers in the automotive industry nowadays. Therefore, among the deciding factors, the other objective aspects that customers consider while buying are – features, colour, space, build quality, feel of plastics, overall fit and finish.

The interior of the Maruti Ciaz gets wooden as well as chrome bits. The cabin is overall very pleasing. The beige colour of interiors may not be to everyones taste. The feel of the interiors of Honda city feels a cut above which is further helped by the overall quality and colours of plastics. The City too, have beige elements but they are only limited to the doors. This is a matter of taste and you may prefer beige over black.

Both cars come with leather seats and have spaces and bins all around for knick-knacks.

Honda City Vs Maruti Ciaz (Engine and Transmission)

Maruti and Honda offer two engines with their cars. The capacity of both the engines on Honda is same – 1.5 litres. The diesel motor comes with a six speed transmission and it offers 10 PS more power than the diesel unit on the Ciaz. The petrol unit on the City offers better power as well as torque than the comparatively smaller engine on Ciaz. The diesel motor on the City uses a six speed tranmisson while the petrol version along with Ciaz (petrol and diesel) use a five speed transmission.

All variants of the cars have transversely mounted engines at front which drive the two wheels at front.

Honda City Vs Maruti Ciaz (Safety features and Mileage)

The equipment list on both cars is long. The central console on the top-end variant of the Ciaz comes with a SmartPlay infotainment system. It has been made by Bosch and is equipped with voice recognition, navigation system, integrated rear view camera and Bluetooth. In addition, the car also gets ABS with EBD and airbags. The City includes four 12V power sockets, keyless entry, cruise control, sunroof, steering-mounted controls, electric folding mirrors and a rear AC vents, ABS with EBD and airbags.

The mileage of cars are more or less comparable,Maruti Ciaz has a slightly better mileage at 26.21kmpl in comparison to the City which claims a mileage of 25.1 kmpl. Although the difference between the values is not large enough to be a deal breaker for people who wish to buy the City. However, with its slightly better values the Ciaz should be able woo more cost concious Indian buyers.

Verdict

Both the cars, offer almost same level of equipment, have refined engines, are good to ride and come very near to fulfilling users' expectations in every respect. You may wish to buy the city at this higher price if you are keen of its looks or want a car that is in the market from many years.
