The new kid on the block, Honda WR-V locks horns with the other crossovers in this segment. While crossover segment has enjoyed limited success in India, and most cars in this segment are considered a result of after thought. It may all change with the Honda WR-V which is much more than just a nip-and-tuck job.
Design and Exteriors
Honda went back to the drawing board and gave the Jazz a full makeover. The result is a car that sits not only higher off the ground (the approach used by others), but also has a 25mm longer wheelbase. The Avventura offers the best ground clearance of the lot at 205mm, followed by i20 Active and WR-V that offer 190mm and 188mm respectively. While all cars use plastic cladding and faux skid plates, the Avventura goes a step further and offers a tailgate mounted spare wheel. The WR-V is not only the tallest at 1601mm, it also has the longest wheelbase and is the most comfortable in terms of space that it has to offer.

Interiors and Features
The Elite i20 offers class-leading 6 airbags with the top variant. Safety is available at a premium in case of Fiat Avventura and the Active i20 that do not offer airbags and other features like ABS as standard. WR-V on the other hand, gets these as standard. WR-V offers the first-in-class sunroof, while it misses out the rear-ac vents that both the other cars offer, that also work well, and improve passenger comfort.

Unlike the WR-V and i20 Active, Fiat Avventura offers Navigation touchscreen as standard with all variants though the size is a tad smaller at 5 inch (WR-V and i20 Active offer 7 inch touchscreens).
Engines and Transmission
WR-V gets the refined and capable 1.2 litre i-VTEC motor that puts out a healthy 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque. While the 1.5 litre diesel develops 100PS of power and impressive torque figure of 200Nm at 1750rpm. i 20 Active gets a 1.2 petrol that develops 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque.

Diesel unit of 1.4 litre capacity puts out 90PS of power and 220Nm of torque, just like in case of the WR-V, diesel unit of the i20 Active comes coupled with a 6 speed transmission. The Avventura does not offer a petrol unit while diesel is of 1.3 litre capacity that put out a healthy 93PS of power and 209Nm of torque.
There aren't any outright winners in the comparison, and with the choices as diverse as these, there's something for everyone. The starting price of the WR-V makes it extremely attractive and a competitor to reckon with. WR-V should ideally find lot of buyers as it retains the practicality of the Jazz and yet with its different face, manages to position itself as a car that also looks unique, unlike the other two which somewhat fail despite trying hard.
