Compare Maruti Dzire Vs Tata Tigor Vs Volkswagen Ameo Vs Honda Amaze

Compare Maruti Dzire Vs Tata Tigor Vs Volkswagen Ameo Vs Honda Amaze

Snapshot: Maruti Dzire is based on an all new 'Heartect' platform. Company claims that it's more efficient. How does the car stack up against the competition? We take a look.

The Dzire 2017 from Maruti is an all new car and is based on the “Heartect’ platform. The new platform is lighter and yet more rigid still. As a result, the new car promises better efficiency and performance figures. You get a lot of new features that were earlier not present. So how does it compare with the rest of the pack, we find out in this specification comparison article.

Design and Exteriors

Dzire features an all new exterior shell and uses Maruti’s liquid flow design language. It offers projector headlamps at the front and LED elements. This makes it the first in this segment. Gone is the stubby rear and the boot looks better integrated now. Overall, a job well done by Maruti. Tata calls the Tigor a styleback and rightly so, it is another car that manages to look brilliant on the outside.

There are visual cues like the double-barrel arrangement for the headlamp and a more pronounced grille that makes it look distinct from the smaller hatch Tiago.

There’s nothing that would let you distinguish Ameo from the Polo, unless you see the boot, which in our opinion looks chopped. Volkswagen Ameo, like Dzire offers a 185 section tyre which is widest among all. The boot capacity however is the least at 330 litres. Honda Amaze looks more contemporary of them all and the styling too has grown on us. There’s nothing you can fault, and the boot too, as in some of the cars, does not look stubby.

Interiors and Features

Full marks to Maruti Dzire that offers two airbags, EBD, ABS, Brake Assist and ISOFIX as standard. Tigor offers two airbags, ABS and EBD however it’s available with the top and middle variants only. You also get seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters with top variants of the Tigor, but unlike Dzire, which offers them as standard, you get these with top variants only.

Amaze also does not offer any of the safety features as standard, while you do get them with higher variants of the car. A touch-screen Navigation system is not present even in the top variant of the Amaze. Rear AC vents are present in the Ameo and Dzire, the other two conspicuously miss it. Ameo also offer two airbags and ABS as standard making it one of the better cars in terms of safety. With top variants, equipped with DSG, you also get Hill hold and ESP.

Engine and Transmission

Dzire offers the tried and tested motors. A 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel, that develop respectable power and offer impressive efficiency figures. Besides a manual, you can also choose from an AMT transmission which is available with both engine options.

Amaze and Ameo offer the most powerful diesel motors that develop a healthy 110Ps of power. You get a DSG with Ameo diesel while Amaze offers CVT along with manual with the petrol. Only Tata Tigor does not offer automatic at the moment, it’s in the work and will be available in some time.

Verdict

The Dzire is an all new car and has a novelty factor that some of the other cars don’t have. You get reliable engine options and an option of AMT with both the motors, one of the greatest advantage is the set of standard safety features you get with this car, making Maruti Dzire one of the better package overall. It looks like Dzire is all set to break sales record yet again.
