Maruti Alto K10 Vs Maruti Alto 800 (Design and Exteriors)

Alto K10 appears to be beautiful and is outfitted with various impressive exterior features. The frontage has a grille that is in sync with body colored bumper. The chrome finish for the grille is not available in the base trim though. The headlights are of decent size along with a windshield and smooth bonnet. The side profile comprises of body colored door handles and ORVMs. Along with this, the wheels are covered completely in the top end trim. The VXi optional trim has stylish side molding that improves the overall personality of the car. The rear profile has been kept simplistic with the plain tail lights.

It seems that the Alto 800 is a mixed match assembleage of features of Maruti 800 and old Maruti Alto. The hatchback is smart and has an attractive appearance. The frontage has been blessed with a chrome finished grille and well polished bumper. The headlights are bright and big that ensure a better view of road at night. The side profile has character lines along with body colored door handles and ORVMs. The wheels arches are nicely done with steel wheels fitted into them. The side mouldings are enhancing the appearance to a great extend. The ORVMs are internally adjustable in the top end variant. The rear profile has body colored bumper, sporty spoiler and trendy tail lights.

Alto K10 Vs Alto 800 (Interiors and Features)

Maruti Alto K10 interiors are kept stylish and very airy. The beige theme goes well with the overall persona of the car. The designers have put in all their heart and soul to make the interiors of K10 comfortable and perfect. The car can seat five occupants without any trouble and the front cabin is filled with numerous utility features. The instrument panel gives all the required notifications, while the gear shift indicator is very useful for the driver. The dial typed climate control along with the air conditioning system is quite ideal. It cools the cabin efficiently and saves the passengers from scorching outside heat. The top two trims of K10 come with accessory power socket, driver’s seat belt warning, digital clock and power windows. The sun visors are there for the front along with vanity mirrors. The power steering wheel makes the driving easy, while the decent music system adds on the entertainment front.  

Maruti Alto 800 comes with comforting interiors. The seats are well-cushioned with high quality upholstery. The rear seat can adjust 3 occupants. You may feel that the space is not good as the Alto K10. The grey and brown theme followed inside, augments the aura and the silver accents for the door handles are harmonized properly. The music system is decent with USB and Aux-in support along with FM. The two speakers are incorporated in the front cabin. The top end trim of Alto 800 has accessory power socket, rear headrests, and resourceful air conditioning system and power windows. The boot space is ample, which would adjust a lot of luggage for your long road trips.

Maruti Alto K10 Vs Maruti Alto 800 (Engine, Transmission & Gearbox)

Under the hood, Alto K10 comes fixed with 1.0-Litre K-Series petrol engine displacing 998cc. The engine has a configuration of 3 cylinders and 12 valves. What’s more is that the power train gives out maximum power output of 68PS@6000rpm along with 90Nm torque @3500rpm. There is also a CNG option available, where the engine delivers maximum power of 60PS @ 6000rpm accompanied by 78Nm torque @ 3500rpm. The variants are coupled with 5-speed manual transmission, while the top end trim has an option of four-speed automatic transmission.

Maruti Alto 800 is very efficient that features 0.8-Litre engine with a displacement of 796cc. The engine manages to churn out maximum power of 48.2PS power at 6000rpm with 69Nm torque at 3500rpm. On the other hand, there is also a CNG option that produces pretty much the same power and torque, but the mileage is better. The engine has been united with the tried and tested five speed manual gearbox.

Maruti Alto K10 Vs Maruti Alto 800 (Mileage and Safety)

Alto K10 is an efficient car, which has K10B motor under the bonnet. This engine allows the car to deliver an impressive fuel economy of 22kmpl on the city roads and 24.07kmpl on the expressways. The CNG variant gives away a great mileage of 32.26km per kg.

Maruti Alto 800 has a very proficient engine, which puts a smile on your face with its fuel economy figures. The petrol one of the car gives away 22.74kmpl of mileage on the highways, and in the city traffic, this figure goes down to 17kmpl. The CNG option on the other hand gives 30.46km per kg of mileage on the expressways, while 28.29km per kg mileage is delivered on the city roads.

Maruti Alto K10 has been outfitted a number of safety features that ensure protection of the occupants and of the car as well. The top end variant has an airbag for the driver. The side impact beams are strong and the headlight leveling facility, 3-Point seat belts for the front and 2-Point for the rear occupants is also in attendance. Excluding these, the car also has high mounted stop lamp, driver’s seat belt warning, rear door child locks, central locking system and a pair of front fog lamps.

Maruti Alto 800 is impressive in terms of safety. The car has been prepared with lot of safety aspects. The built is strong enough, which could take in lot of pressure in case of an accident or collision. The top trim of Alto 800 comes with driver’s airbag, central locking system, tubeless tyres and collapsible steering wheel. The fog lamps on front ensure better visibility of the road during misty weather. The seat belts are offered for both front and rear seats, while the headlight level device is another advantage here. Solid disc brakes along with ventilated drum brakes incorporate as the braking system of the car. However, it does miss out on anti-lock braking system.

Verdict

Maruti offers the Alto K10 and Alto 800 just to ensure that not even a single customer slips through and closely priced cars in lowest price bracket do that. However, if we talk about a better buy amongst the cars, you may be better off purchasing Alto K10. The mileage delivery of the Alto K10 is better than that of Maruti Alto 800. Also, the car has better road presence that the Alto 800. If you are willing to stretch your budget slightly, the Alto K10 would make a better buy among the two.
