We compare the specification of the recently launched Renault Lodgy with the Nissan Evalia which has been in the Indian market from quite some time now.

The specification sheet has been prepared by comparing Renault Lodgy 110PS RXZ with the Nissan Evalia SV.

Renault Lodgy exteriors Vs Nissan Evalia exteriors
The Nissan Evalia strikes as the most squarish and boxy looking car. There are straight sheet metal panels on the sides and back which makes the car look like a typical van. It is only from the front that the car does manage to break away from its boxy design and look decent and somewhat rounded.

The Lodgy is no looker either but still does not looks as boxy as the Evalia. On the whole, the Lodgy is a smart looking car and does look more urbane and smooth. Perhaps, it is only the rear section of the car that looks most like a van and is the most disappointing.

The Evalia has large sweptback headlamps that are mounted very high along with the grille. On the sides, you would notice that there are sliding doors which make getting in and out of the car easier but lends the car its most characteristic van like feature. The rear of the car carries large and straight tailgate that opens upwards to reveal the large bootspace.

The Lodgy has large sweptback headlamps on the face. There is double slat grille in the middle with a chrome strip at the top which lends a very premium look to the car. The bumper is smooth and rounded; the bottom grille with the arrangement of round fog lamps at extremities looks clean. The sides of the car carry very subtle creases and there are chunky alloys that lend the car some character. The taillight cluster looks good in isolation but the rear of the car, on the whole looks bland.

Renault Lodgy interiors Vs Nissan Evalia interiors
The Evalia uses dual-tone, brown and beige interiors with faux wooden inserts. The steering is from the Micra and does not have controls for music system or telephony. The dashboard and interiors have been well designed and have tremendous amount of space for knick knacks. The quality of the plastics though does not feel very premium. There are AC vents for second as well as third row of passengers, 10 cup holders spread around the cabin, seat back snack tray with cup holder. The instrument cluster has a tripmeter, tachometer, odometer, speedometer that provide useful information to the driver. The rear view camera provides visibility to the driver and help park the car. The entertainment system includes a 2 DIN audio system with USB and aux-in connectivity. There is tremendous amount of space in the car and the boot is very generous even if the third row of seats is not folded.

The Renault Lodgy is roomy and has a very comfortable car-like cabin. The MPV is available in two (7 or 8) seating configurations to choose from. There’s ample space in the second and third rows of seats. The drive seat is height adjustable while the 7-seater version offers captain seats in the second row that has armrests.

The top end variant has two-tone premium upholstery with leather inserts. A three spoke power steering with metal accents has audio control, speed limiter, telephony controls, cruise control. Additional features like cup and bottle storage unit, floor carpeting, power sockets, flight tray for second row of seats, holders, sun visors, door map pockets and bottle holders are also present. There’s a touch screen MediaNav system that takes care of entertainment, provides navigation information, rear view with the help of rear view camera while the car is reversed. The boot space of the car is large at 207 litres which can be increased to 1861 litres by folding the 2nd and 3rd row of seats.
