Toyota Innova is a stylish MPV, which has been given a chic appearance. The car received a makeover in 2013 and with it, the grille on the front accompanied by the headlight cluster and bumper became much better looking. The limited edition of Innova is pleasing to the eyes. The hawk-wing shaped headlamps on the front have chrome accents and the turn indicators are well designed. The grille also has some exciting chrome accents that go in sync with the pair of fog lamps, body colored bumper and cladding. The side profile is basic with the presence of alloy wheels in the top end variant and body decals. The ORVMs are built in with turn blinkers and door handles are dipped in body color. The rear end of the car is perfect. The horizontal chrome strip is ideal and the high mounted brake light with simplified tail lights finish the look with immense smartness.

Sportiness oozes out of every angle of Mahindra Scorpio. The car has an appealing appearance as its façade is aggressive and very bold. The frontage is graced by its conventional grille with chrome accents, its badging, big pair of headlamps, and a wide air dam. The body colored bumper completes the front profile. The side has well pronounced wheel arches which have been installed with allot wheel in the top trim, while the mid range and base trims have steel wheels. The ORVMs are dipped in body color along with black roof rails that provide a very sporty look to the car. In the end, the rear profile has LED brake lights, turn indicators and high mounted stop lamp. Scorpio’s tail gate has a simple design with a big windscreen and chrome badging.

Toyota Innova interiors are its major highlights. They are spacious, airy and very lush. The car has been equipped with numerous comfort features, which incorporates a widespread dashboard. The top trim of the car has cruise control that makes the handling of the car super smooth and cool. The multifunctional steering wheel features the cruise controls along with audio and call buttons. The second row seat has a sliding facility accompanied by electronically adjustable ORVMs, voice assist system, arm rests for the rear seat occupants, Intellipark parking assistance, illuminated ignition key slot, power windows with auto down button on the driver’s side, accessory power sockets for the rear rows, side step, rear defogger and the list doesn’t seem to end.

Toyota Innova Vs Mahindar Scorpio (Engine and Transmission)

Under the bonnet of Toyota Innova, you would find a diesel engine options. In the diesel variants, the consumer can pick from BSIII and BSIV acquiescent variants. Nonetheless, the diesel variants of the car come with 2.5-Litre diesel engine, which displaces 2494cc. This one has a configuration of 14 valves and 4-cylinders. the engine is strong enough to give out maximum power of 102PS @ 3600rpm along with producing 200Nm torque @ 1400 to 3400rpm. Both these power trains are unified with five-speed manual transmission. The top end variant of Mahindra Scorpio has 2.2-Litre mHawk engine with DOHC valve configuration. The engine has a displacement capacity of 2179cc and produces peak power of 120PS @ 4000rpm and 280Nm torque @ 1800 to 2800rpm. This one can be opted with either five-speed manual gearbox or the very impressive six-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Innova Vs Mahindra Scorpio (Safety features and Mileage)

Toyota Innova should deliver minimum mileage of 9kmpl while ARAI claimed mileage figure is 12.99kmpl. The Mahindra Scorpio SUV is a fuel efficient vehicle. The trims with 2.5-litre engine gives out fuel economy of around 13 to 15kmpl, while the one with 2.6-litre engine, it gives away maximum mileage of 12kmpl. The Scorpio variant with 2.2-litre mHawk engine is the best, which comfortably produces 13.5kmpl of fuel economy in the automatic variant and the manual one generates 15.4kmpl of mileage.

Verdict

Toyota Innova and Mahindra Scorpio are very purpose-built vehicles, which also offer numerous comfort features. The Innova is more spacious and more practical if you are looking for a true people carrier. However,  if you wish to have a spacious car for your family and also do off-roading, you should rather look at the Mahindra Scorpio instead. The Scorpio is way ahead of the Innova and is an extremely well equipped car that also offers the convenience of an automatic gearbox which the Innova does not.
