Comparison - Yamaha FZ-S Vs Suzuki Gixxer Vs Honda Unicorn CB Vs TVS Apache

Snapshot: Specification comparison sheet: Yamaha FZ-S Ver-2.0 (FI) Vs Suzuki Gixxer Vs Honda Unicorn CB 160 Vs TVS Apache RTR 160

The power commuter bike segment now has lot of options for aspiring buyers. The Apache RTR 160, is the oldest bike competing in this specification comparison review, all the others were introduced afterwards. The Bajaj Auto, has had the most steepest share erosion in this segment with its share dipping to 16.6% in 2014-15 from 24.4% in the year 2012-13 and it was due to reduced demand for Discover series of bikes. The company is trying hard to rediscover its portfolio with the new Discover bikes. Honda’s has been the most significant gainer as the percentage share for them increased to 25.6% in 2014-15 from 14.9% in 2011-12. The TVS has been losing its share continuously despite being the pioneers in several areas and creating a segment of 160cc bikes. Yamaha has been continuously increasing the market share, the share which may not be as big as the Honda’s or Bajaj but the company is getting there fast.

The specification comparison review has been done by comparing the highest spec models of the bikes.

In this comparison, the Apache RTR 160 is the only bike that comes equipped with disc brake at the rear wheel too. All the bikes use carburetor for preparing the fuel air mixture except the Yamaha FZ-S FI which uses the fuel injection technology. The Apache RTR is the only bike in this comparison which uses double shocker on the rear wheel, all other bikes use a mono shock suspension system.
