It seems like we were not wrong at all in praising the most recent offering from Ducati, the Scrambler, in loud words. To second our thought, 'Motociclismo', an Italian magazine has just awarded Ducati Scrambler, the best looking motorcycle at the recently concluded EICMA, the biggest motorcycle show on Earth.
The magazine conducts this competition every year through forms, which are to be filled at the show or the website. More than 10000 fans took part in the competition this year and Scrambler got a whopping 43% vote. Interestingly, the margin between the winner and the runner-up was 3 times, with the second place bike getting only 15%.
Ducati Scrambler is a coming of age bike from the legendary bike manufacturer and they revive the Scrambler name after they first launched it in 70's. Available in 3 versions, Icon, Urabna Enduro, and Throttle, the bike is aimed to build a repute of connecting rider with the machine, for all ages and genres, making the rider feel, the bike as his own extension.
The Scrambler pays homage to the 70's bike with a single cylinder engine in terms of looks, but not engine. The new Scrambler is powered by an 803cc air-cooled twin cylinder engine that offers 75 hp of power. The Ducati Scrambler is also designed to handle more balanced with just 170 kg dry, and a seat height of just 790 mm (that can be further reduced to 770 mm) that allows full control of the bike.
The name for Ducati's Scrambler is derived from the word Scramble (verb to Scramble, precisely) meaning, mixing up, blending, letting the imagination run free, sharing with others. We can say, Scrambler isn't just a bike, it's a different world altogether.
The Ducati Scrambler will be in Ducati dealerships starting early 2015.
