The legendary American muscle bike maker, Harley-Davidson has been going through some hiccups nowadays as the company has been quite struggling with the new sales, and trade wars across the globe. This might be a direct result of the ever-evolving motorcycle market which has seen a drastic change in terms of taste of an average motorcyclist over the last decade. If the direct cruiser motorcycle demand has hit a plateau then other segments such as Adventure Touring, Street, and Café Racer has seen a huge increase in demand. As a direct result, the ideal cruiser making company Harley-Davidson, which majorly focuses on laid-back muscle machines has been facing some struggle when it comes to new bike sales and attracting new customers.

Recently company took the market by storm as they announced momentous deviation from their current track. The company announced that they will be coming up with 100 new motorcycles by the year 2027, and that makes up for more than 10 bikes per year till 2017.  For the coming year, the company announced the launch of Livewire, the electric bike concept which has kept the company busy for half a decade now, but thankfully it will be finally making way to the market next year. Also in future, smaller and more affordable Livewire motorcycles are expected to join the Livewire family.

Harley-Davidson plans on entering smaller bike segment with 250-500cc motorcycles –

Interestingly, when the bike manufacturers like Bajaj and TVS are trying to enter the big bike market, on the flip side, manufacturers like Harley-Davidson and Triumph are planning to do the opposite. Maybe it’ because they’ve realized how big and profitable the small bike segment can turn out in Asian countries like India. It is true, this segment is evolving at a rapid pace, and offers immense possibilities for manufacturers to experiment in this space. With the smaller bikes in the fleet, Harley-Davidson will be more accessible to a wider set of audience pan Asia. The company has also officially stated that they will be going in a joint venture with an Asia based motorcycle manufacturer to keep the prices down, and competitive. So technically we can expect a Royal Enfield competitor in the near future but that might or might not be a V-Twin like the original Harleys. Interestingly, Harley has decided to follow the same set of track as other companies like BMW, KTM and Triumph which went into official partnership with the domestic brand like TVS, and Bajaj to make their products more accessible to a wider set of audience.

Promising new set of products for the future –

Apart from new smaller bikes, and the Livewire project, the company has already unveiled a number of new products such as Pan America 1250, Streetfighter 975 and Custom 1250. All these bikes have been designed from the scratch taking the modern motorcycling taste into consideration and at the same time without deviating from the original Harley lineage.

Stay tuned as we update you with another story taking a deeper look into the future Harley-Davidson products.
