Hero MotoCorp dominates in the 125 segment
Snapshot: Hero MotoCorp aims to achieve 1 million mark for its 125cc Glamour bike
Indian bike manufacturer, HeroMotorp has taken the lead position in 125cc segment beating its archrival Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. With the help of its most popular commuter bike, Hero Glamour has outshined Honda’s CB Shine with a growth of 33 percent in the 125cc segment. In April of 2016, Glamour managed to sell 66,756 units against Shines 52,752 units.
With 6,79,147 units sold in FY 2016, Hero registered a growth of 23 percent as compared to 5,51,486 units in FY 2015. On the other hand, Honda has seen a drop of 10.5 percent with 66,700 units in April 2016, which includes of CB Shine and CB Shine SP.
Hero MotoCorp spokesperson stated, "Hero Glamour has become the country's largest-selling 125cc motorcycle for three consecutive months (February-April) this year, thus further consolidating Hero's leadership in the 125cc segment.”
With its success in 125cc segment, Hero is now convinced that they will improve their performance event further. By 2018, the Company plans to sell 1 million units of Glamour yearly.
