The Gurgaon based automaker is planning to introduce its sportiest bike yet, the Xtreme 200R in the Indian motorcycle market very soon. The company is betting high on the new bike and has spent quite a lot of time and resources in the research and development of the new bike. The new Xtreme 200R competes against already established rivals such as TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.

Looks –

The new Hero Xtreme 200R is a new and fresh design that only carries minor inspiration from the original CBZ or CBZ Xtreme bikes. On the other hand, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V looks fully inspired from the older TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Both the bikes have decent fit and finish levels. The Xtreme comes with new sporty decals that make it look very exciting. It has LED tail light at the back and twin LED eyelid strips at the front. It has a single seat that is designed to look sporty and provides maximum comfort as well. Talking about its rival, Apache comes with sharp design and looks that reminds of its elder sibling.

Engine and specs –

The Xtreme 200R uses a new 199.6cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 18.2bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm of peak torque comes at 6,500rpm. Its engine comes mated to 5-speed transmission with one down and rest up shifting pattern. Talking about Apache, it uses a 159.7cc single cylinder, 4-stroke, oil cooled engine which now puts close to 16.27bhp of power at 8,000rpm for the carburetted version, and slightly higher 16.57bhp at 8,000rpm for the fuel injected version. Peak torque rating is the same at 14.8 Nm at 6,500rpm. It comes mated to a smooth shifting 5-speed transmission. The Apache is available in both carburetted as well as fuel injected version, on the other hand, the Xtreme only comes out in just carburetted version.

Frame and Cycle parts –

Both the bikes use different frames, the Hero Xtreme 200R uses a diamond frame which the company says is lighter in weight and rigid for great cornering stability and handling. On the other hand, the Apache uses a Double Cradle frame, which is a heavier and stiffer than a Diamond frame. Both the bikes run on telescopic front forks and single monoshock at the rear. Hero uses a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the back while its rival uses a high spec Showa single shock for greater stability and handling. Talking about the brakes, both the bikes utilize front disc brakes but the Xtreme has a bigger 276mm disc. Also, both have an optional safety net of ABS.

Pricing –

The pricing of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V starts at Rs 80,990 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi), while its competitor is yet to announce the price. It is expected that Hero will launch the same in next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more such comparison articles.
