Snapshot: With setting-up a new plant at Ahmedabad, this year, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India plans to sell 21% more vehicles than last year
Honda has been selling motorcycles as per plan so far this season and is all set to meet the targets set for FY 15. After beating Bajaj Auto to take the second spot in the two-wheeler segment, Honda is all set to go deeper in the rural market by expanding its network. The new plant at Ahmedabad will start functioning in 2015-16 and will have an annual capacity of 1.2 million units. This will take Honda's cumulative production capacity to 5.8 million units annually. Last year, the company added 800 new networks and this year, plans to add another 1,000 new networks.
"Honda achieved highest ever sales of 37.21 lakh units in 2013-14. The target for the current fiscal is to sell around 45 lakh units with a growth of 21 per cent," Yadvinder S Guleria, HMSI Vice President-Sales & Marketing told reporters at the launch of its first 'traffic park' at Bhubaneshwar.
'Traffic Park' is an initiative taken by HMSI to spread road safety awareness in East India.
