Honda Orders a Major Recall in the U.S market

The Japanese auto maker, Honda has ordered a major recall for some of it premium motorcycles in the US motorcycle market. More than 1.40 lakh of units have been affected by this recall in the U.S. The recall is ordered due to a major issue invloving the rear brakes that can lead to a crash. Documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say it’s the third recall for some of the motorcycles.

Below is the list of some of the affected units –

Honda Goldwing motorcycles of model year 2012-2015

  • GL1800
  • 2001-2005 GL 1800A
  • 2013-2015 GL1800B

According to the reports released, Honda says that the brakes can drag after being released by the rider. This situation can lead to a crash or fire due to overheating of the engine. Honda recalled some of the bike in the past (2011 and 2014) involving the same issue, Honda also reported of eight small fires in 2014. Report says, Honda dealers will replace two brake master cylinder, and flush the brake fluid, free of charge. There is no information on the schedule yet.
