Honda two-wheelers sold 16.80 million bikes in 2013
Snapshot: Honda has sold 16.8 million motorcycles worldwide in 2013 registering 8.7 percent growth in global motorcycles sales
Honda two-wheelers has announced that it sold 16.8 million units of motorcycles as compared to 15.50 million sales in the previous year. On the whole, the company registered 8.7 percent of growth in the sales graph. The announcement was made two days before Honda’s third quarter report, which ended on Dec. 31, 2013.
Sales went up in most of the regions for Honda, though the company does report a drop in Japan as well as its Europe, Middle East and Africa divisions. The Japanese manufacturer’s domestic business sold 2,19,000 motorcycles, reporting 1.2 percent fall from 2,21,000 in 2012. The reports were even worse from the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, where sales dropped by 5.2 percent to 3,23,000 from 3,41,000 motorcycles. The North American sales rose by 5.5 percent to 2,78,000 from 2,64,000 motorcycles. Sales in South America stayed almost at the same level as 2012, with a 0.2 percent increase to 1.66 million units.
The biggest increases came from the Chinese and the Asian markets. Honda sales in China increased by 5.0 percent to 1.35 million motorcycles from 1.29 million of last year. The Asian region saw the biggest growth as Honda sold 12.96 million motorcycles in the year as compared to 11.70 million units of last year, up by 10.7 percent.
