Hyundai hatchbacks are always one of the easiest of cars to drive on Indian roads. The Grand i10 is the favorite of many. The new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is a definite improvement on the original version, as it comes with a sophisticated package. As a buyer, you have a choice between the diesel and petrol variants, each of which comes with manual and AMT gearboxes. The four options available in the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios can make it challenging for the user to choose the ideal one. We shall help you find the perfect vehicle depending on your requirements.
Engines – The heart of the matter
The first aspect you should look at in any vehicle is the engine. The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is blessed in this aspect because it carries forward the same engine as present in the parent model, 1.2L petrol with 83hp/114Nm, and 1.2L diesel with 75hp/190Nm. The difference is that the diesel engine present in the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is BS VI-compliant, whereas the petrol engine will get an upgrade before the April 2020 deadline.
Transmission Systems – An excellent choice to have
Both engines come with a 5-speed automated manual transmission and manual gearboxes as its options. It is a perfect combination as far as driving inside city limits is concerned, but reviews indicate that cruising along on the highway can be a bit underwhelming. Maybe, the switch over to the BSVI model could have sapped the energy of the petrol engine. The AMT gearbox does offer a smooth driving performance with the manual gearbox experiencing frequent downshifts.
Mileage – Fuel-efficient, as always
The petrol manual powertrain delivers a performance of 20.7 kmpl, whereas the AMT version gives a mileage of 20.5 kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel versions offer 26.2 kmpl in both the options.

Which is the ideal variant to buy?
Diesel vehicles should be the perfect option if you belong to the category that prefers to go on long drives. The manual version of the Grand i10 Nios should be useful, but the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is not the perfect vehicle for cruising along on the highways.
City driving is an excellent experience with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The 5-speed manual option in the petrol variants is the best to use. Hyundai does not offer AMT in its top-end variant, the Asta. Therefore, the ideal variant to buy should be the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz AMT.
