Hyundai Styx or Hyundai Carlino is the latest sensation in the sub-4-meter compact SUV segment. We have been seeing this car a lot in the spy images and renderings. The segment is currently played by Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport. Though Vitara Brezza has been the most dominating car among the other three, Tata Nexon has also come up with a great overall package has managed to acquire 5-stars in the crash test. While Ford Ecosport is the finest vehicle to drive among the three, Mahindra XUV300 is eyeing continuously on them to make its way on February 14, 2019.

Amid all this heat, Hyundai is again activated to bring a scar on everyone’s face. Hyundai Carlino launch date will fall between April and May 2019 and will be derived from the Hyundai Carlino concept displayed at the Auto Expo 2016.The South Korean auto manufacturer has always been people’s favourite when it comes to affordable luxury. Let’s see what this Hyundai compact SUV may bring with it.

(We were speculating Hyundai Carlino launch by the mid of 2018, but now the car will arrive between April and May 2019)

  1. Pocket-Friendly Price:

Unlike Hyundai Creta, which is great on sales despite having a plus size price, Hyundai Carlino price in India would be at par with the competition; one may expect it to be between Rs. 7 Lakhs to 12 Lakhs, ex-showroom. This segment is among the most-heated segments in the Indian market and people are liking the way compact SUVs have proven themselves for their everyday commute and weekend trips. Hyundai Carlino SUV is expected to bring those features along with an aggressive price with maximum features that will make it an instant hit.

  1. Boxy Design:

Hyundai Carlino Concept that we saw at the 2016 Auto Expo will replicate itself here. The upcoming Hyundai SUV will carry an outfit that will resemble the Hyundai Creta from some angles. The big diamond-cut alloy wheels will add glam to the car’s outfit and a flat bonnet will add to its muscularity.

  1. New Engine Options:

Being the first entrant in the segment from the stable, Hyundai Carlino specifications will be different from the current line-up. Though the brand may continue with the available set of engines from Creta, considering the competition, 1.5-litre petrol and  1.5-liter diesel engines may make their way in the new upcoming Hyundai SUV. Alongside the above said naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol unit, Hyundai may introduce a 1-litre turbo petrol engine, which will have higher efficiency and power delivery. This mill will compete with the famous and multiple times awarded 1-liter EcoBoost engine from Ford. Ford Ecosport is blessed with this engine and is doing great in India and overseas. Though, being a CBU engine, it’s an expensive affair. Hyundai’s turbo petrol engine, if gets localised, may break the monopoly dominated by Ford Ecosport.

  1. Modern Interior

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have become a necessity with their increasing demand. The hatchbacks like Hyundai Santro and Maruti Suzuki WagonR have also started providing this feature. To grow up from this and to beat Tata Nexon infotainment system powered by Harmon Kardon, there is a need of best-in-class electronics in the upcoming new Hyundai Carlino interior. Also, the interiors will be in a dual-tone shade and the seat comfort will be as good as its siblings. The rear seat comfort may go best in class with a good amount of legroom and headroom. Currently, this segment struggles to fit a good boot space at the rear, so Hyundai may try to add an extra inch to fit your luggage.

  1. New Design Language

A new trend of providing inverted front light setup in new cars has now been followed by a good number of cars. If you have seen Tata Harrier, you may imagine what inverted light setup means. It is basically putting LED DRLS with blinkers on the top and headlights at the bumper.  Hyundai is also coming up with its new design philosophy in the new Hyundai SUV, which can also be seen on Kona electric car and 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai Carlino images and spy shots have confirmed this, and it will be exciting to see this in the sub-4-meter category.
