Kia Motors India is all set to launch its second product, the Carnival MPV in the market at the 2020 Auto Expo set to be held in Greater Noida next month. The Korean manufacturer has already revealed various details ahead of the premium MPV’s launch, and we have compiled all the information for you.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Kia Carnival MPV –
Kia Carnival Dimensions and Seating Layout
In terms of size, the Carnival has a length of 5,115 mm, a 3,060 mm long wheelbase, a width of 1,985 mm, and stands 1,740 mm tall. For reference, let’s compare it with the dimensions of Toyota Innova Crysta premium MPV.
The Carnival comes with a 7-seat layout as standard, with captain seats in the middle row and a bench-type seat at the rear which can seat three. The 7-seat version can also be had with VIP seats in the middle row.
The 8-seater version gets a middle seat in the second row, while the Carnival can also be had with four rows of seats as the 9-seater option, which comes equipped with four captain seats behind the front seats and bench-type seat for three at the rear. However, the 9-seat version comes at the expense of boot space.
Kia Carnival Features and Safety
Just like the Seltos, the Carnival has been packed up to the brim with features, which include 10.1-inch dual touchscreen rear-seat entertainment screens for the rear passengers, a three-zone climate control system, ventilated 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a dual-panel electric sunroof, one-touch power sliding rear doors, powered tailgate, a 220V laptop charger and more!
The Kia Carnival also comes with Kia’s UVO connected-car tech, with 37 smart connected features that are free for the first three years of ownership. The UVO app can be accessed through a smartwatch, and it allows remote door lock/unlock, engine start/stop, air conditioning control, Smart Air purifier control, horn and light control, etc.
On the safety front, the Carnival will be offered with 6 airbags, front parking sensors, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an electric parking brake, apart from the standard safety equipment as per the norms set by the Indian government.
Kia Carnival Powertrains
The Kia Carnival will be offered in India with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which puts out a maximum power output of 200 PS at 3,800 rpm and a 440 Nm peak torque delivered between 1,500 and 2,750 rpm.

The engine will be BS6-compliant from day one and will come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission as standard.
Kia Carnival Rivals
The Toyota Innova Crysta has enjoyed dominance in the premium MPV segment for as long as we can remember, but things are about to change with the launch of the Kia Carnival. The Carnival will directly pit against the Innova Crysta, however, the former will be offered as a premium alternative to the latter.
Kia Carnival Variants and Price
Kia will be offering the Carnival MPV in three different trims, namely – Premium, which can be had with either a 7-seat or an 8-seat configuration; Prestige, which comes with 7 or 9-seat options; and the top-end Limousine, which gets the 7-seat layout as standard. Since the Carnival will be a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta, expect Kia to price the MPV in the range of around Rs 26 – 30 lakh.
The Innova Crysta has been the undoubted premium MPV segment leader for a long time now. However, a lot of prospective Innova Crysta buyers will definitely consider the Carnival once its launched, despite a premium of around Rs 10 lakh.
Conclusion
With just one product in the Indian market, Kia Motors has already managed to feature in the list of the top-10 biggest brands in the country, in terms of total sales last year. The Korean carmaker has already made a name for itself in the country, and the Carnival will surely be benefitted from that.
