Kia Seltos is just ten days away from hitting the Indian roads officially. However, there is already a celebration inside the company premises as the SUV has raked in whooping 23,000 bookings even without the prices being announced. The Seltos had wrecked havoc in the Indian auto industry by registering 6000+ pre-orders on the first day. Taking the bull by the horns as the entire auto industry is witnessing a new low every day, Kia Seltos has posed a serious threat to the well-established players in the segment like Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. So, let's take a look at the five best-in-segment features that have made it so special and pulled the buyers towards it.
1. Powertrain-Transmission Combinations:
Kia Seltos is being presented with three engines and four gearboxes, a feat unseen before in this segment of SUVs. The petrol variants can be availed with a naturally-aspirated 1.5L engine which will develop top power of 113bhp and peak torque of 144Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT auto gearbox. On the other hand, the diesel variants fetch power from a 1.5L turbo engine which belts out 113bhp and 250Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed auto transmission. The range-topping GT line trim will feature a 1.4L turbo petrol engine which would unleash 138bhp of max power and 242Nm of highest torque. It will be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission while an optional 7-speed DCT is also on offer. Hence, a buyer gets various options to choose from as per his/her liking.
2. Head-up Display:
Well, it is not a new feature for buyers who drive high-end luxury SUVs and sedans but for regular buyers, it is still a new phenomenon. So, Kia Seltos would be the first SUV in the segment to offer a head-up display. For those wondering, Head-up Display helps the driver in avoiding distraction by displaying pivotal real-time driving details such as speed, navigation information, cruise control and the speed limit on an 8-inch transparent panel at the windshield so that he/she doesn't have to look at the instrument cluster and stay focused on the road. Kia Seltos will be the most affordable SUV in the Indian market to debut these features as earlier Toyota Prius used to come with Head-up Display.
3. 10.25-inch HD Touchscreen Infotainment System:
Kia Seltos will feature touchscreen infotainment system as standard: the entry-level variants will have a 3.8-inch touchscreen system, while the mid-variants will boast of a 7-inch touchscreen unit followed by the top-end variants which will feature the 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with an advanced 7.0-inch colour display panel. Being the biggest in the segment, it would be compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, AUX-IN, USB, Navigation and UVO connected features. In addition, the larger size of the infotainment system will assist the driver better with the 360-degree view camera and make parking the SUV easier and convenient. This touch unit also offers a split-screen feature so that an individual can perform two tasks simultaneously.
4. Bose Premium 8-Speaker System:
Kia Seltos has also earned the distinction of being the country's first SUV in its segment to feature a Bose premium sound system. In addition, it is also the most affordable SUV in the Indian market to get a Bose sound system to date. Although, the infamous Renault Koleos, which is no longer on sale now in India, featured a music system from Bose. The sound system in the Seltos will have a total of 8 speakers including the tweeters as compared to other SUVs in the segment which get a maximum of 6 speakers including tweeters. The specially designed and developed Bose speakers will also come with Dynamic Speed Compensation technology.

5. Internet-Enabled Air Purifier:
Kia Seltos will come loaded with an in-built air purifier which can be operated and controlled through a Smartphone as well as the touchscreen infotainment system. The settings of the air purifier can be optimized via UVO which is the internet-enabled platform of the company. The air purifier will help in keeping the cabin pollutants free and odour free. The company has claimed that it is highly effective and competent as it can remove nearly 95 per cent pollutants under 25 minutes from the cabin. The air purifier has been strategically placed behind the front armrest while it comes with HEPA filter. The digital display with the air purifier at the back of the front armrest also displays the quality of air in the cabin.
