Marquez claims pole at Sachsenring with a record time
Snapshot: Riding on a track where he has been winning from last 4 years, Marc Marquez claimed his 7th pole of the season
Friday gave some hope to Rossi and Lorenzo's fans across the globe when the news came that Honda is not doing too well at the Sachsenring racing circuit in Germany. But like on many of the occasions in the MotoGP this season, Marc Marquez again rode on the edge to claim his 7th pole position in the 9th race this season. In doing so, he smashed the fastest lap record at Sachsenring set by Casey Stoner in 2008.
Marquez's efforts made him finish a lap in 1:20.937 seconds whereas Stoner's fastest lap at Sachsenring stood tall for six years at 1:21.067. The German crowd was ecstatic to see Stephen Bradl, despite being the leader for five minutes, finish the qualifying in the front row. Pedrosa would be starting second from the grid despite being very fast on most of the occasions, but crashing with three minutes remaining. The second row will be all Yamaha with Aleix Espargaro being fourth, Lorenzo fifth and Valentino Rossi sixth on the starting line. Andrea Iannone impressed again with the seventh spot ahead of Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith.
Despite being very predictable, we assume some real close fights to take place tomorrow once the race begins at 5:30 (IST).
