The Indian Automotive industry has seen the emergence of several new vehicle segments in the past decade or so, ranging from compact sedan to compact SUVs and even the compact MPVs. Each segment witnessed a rise and drop in sales over the years but the MPV segment is the one which has steadily maintained its market share despite all the hindrances. In fact, as far as the Indian market is concerned, there are not many choices available for the buyers in this segment as compared to the other segments like hatchback, sedan and SUVs. Hence, the renowned French auto giant Renault has decided to explore this segment and introduce its new product in India in the form of Triber, which is just a week away from its much-anticipated world premiere.

Renault has been working on the Triber MPV for more than two years and now it is finally ready to break cover. From the spy-shots available on the web, it is safe to assume that it is a 7-seater offering but despite that, the company officials are adamant on not terming it as an 'MPV' but calling it the 'creator' of a new segment. Unquestionably, the Triber will find its place between the Kwid and Duster while giving sleepless nights to the likes of Datsun GO+ and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Renault Triber Price is going to be fairly aggressive as the company has based it on a new architecture which is derived from the Kwid's budget-friendly CMF-A platform. It is not a hidden fact anymore that belligerent pricing and maximum localization contributed to Kwid's humongous success in the Indian market. Expect the Triber to be on similar lines.

Renault Triber will be designed and developed in India

The Triber, taking a leaf out of Kwid's book again, is expected to carry a plethora of bells and whistles in order to lure buyers and unsettle the existing heavyweights. Renault Triber images have revealed that the all-new model will flaunt LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs) and LED tail-lamp cluster. The cabin could feature an upmarket upholstery and digital instrument cluster alongside an array of exquisite features like automatic AC, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & Navigation, all four power windows, electrically adjustable wing mirrors etc. to name a few. Renault Triber features might not be best-in-segment but they can be expected to be at par with its rivals.

India will be the first market internationally to get Renault Triber

We have witnessed that automakers have severely emphasized the inclusion of avantgarde safety features from the past few years in order to ensure the well-being of the occupants and rising causalities during accidents. Even the Global NCAP has strongly criticized several OEMs for compromising with the safety and security of the driver and passengers. Hence, we expect the Triber to come with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system and driver and front passenger seat belt warning system as standard. The Government of India has also made it clear that passenger safety is paramount and all the aforementioned features are mandatory from July 1, 2019, in all the new vehicles to be launched in the country.

Renault Triber interiors will be borrowed from the Kwid and Lodgy

Renault Triber engine and specifications are kept under wraps by the company, but we can confirm that it will borrow the 1.0L petrol engine from the Kwid, albeit with a turbocharger. Since it shares the same platform as Kwid, the 1.0L engine could be the perfect choice with increased power and torque by the help of a turbocharger to accommodate the bigger dimensions and weight. This engine will come with a 5-speed manual transmission while an AMT gearbox could follow suit later, identical to the Kwid. Sadly, there will not be a diesel engine on offer during the time of launch with the Triber. We expect the all-new model to be in a range of Rs 5-7 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while it is going to be officially launched in the month of July in India.
