As the 2015 season is coming to an end the races are getting hotter. Like #99 mentioned, it was one of the hottest races ever. With Rossi and Marquez scratching paints and Pedrosa bagging the first position, the Malaysian circuit once against proved to be the dramatic turning point for the Moto GP season.
The Malaysian GP was one of the most intense races of the season so far, after sweeping away the 2nd position at the race, Lorenzo immediately took half of the leather down to get a splash of cold water to get the body temperature back to normal. Jorge Lorenzo: “You know I don’t remember a race that was hotter or more difficult than this in a physical way. On the bike with the hot engine it was terrible, like being in the sun! Very hot and difficult to finish the race but it was worth the effort and the championship is closer.”
It was not just the sun that was troubling the champions, it was the second last race of the season and so one of the most important races to defend the winning position for Rossi. But instead on focusing on Lorenzo, Rossi was seen busy with Marquez. Due to the intense contact between the pair that led to the crash of Marquez, Rossi was given three penalty points and now with total four penalty points the Yamaha Movistar champion will have start from the last position at the final race of the season next week. Just to remind you, he already had one penalty point from Misano, for riding slowly on the racing line during qualifying, his total is now four, and he will have to start the final Valencia race from the last position on the grid.
Just after the race was finished, both the riders were called in by the Race Direction for a meeting and the meeting lasted about an hour. Videos of the race incident were put forward by the Race Direction, asking both the riders for their side of story.
During the press conference, Honda rider, Marc Marquez said, “You can see in the video from many points, the helicopter, from in front. I was inside and of course we were overtaking for some laps but I felt I was able to be faster and to catch the front guys. But yeah, on that corner, corner 14, Valentino passed me. I heard the bike then I pick it up, but then I saw that he was completely straight and looking at me and stopping a lot. I was just waiting because there was nothing to do in that point and then I saw that with his leg he pushed my arm and my front brake and then I lock the front wheel and I crash.”
From the meeting it was decided by the Race Direction that Valentino Rossi deliberately pushed Marc Marquez open wide that led to the crash of the Honda rider and so Rossi was penalised with three points for his action.
The race was won by Dani Pedrosa followed by the Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo, while Rossi managed to grab the third position on the Malaysian circuit. Rossi is still leading the championship with 312 points and Lorenzo has been doing a great job by steadily closing the gap between him and Rossi with a total 305 points. The 2015 season has been full of crashes for the Honda rider, Marc Marquez and he is on the third position over all with a total of 222 points.
