Suzuki aims to capture 15% of the scooter market this year

The recent boom in scooter segment, especially in the urban market, helped Suzuki have a prosperous 2013-14. Scooters formed roughly 73% of its sales figures in the financial year. Now, with the launch of its latest offering to this emerging sector - Let's - Suzuki widens its plans for the year ahead. Hopeful that the new 110 cc Let's will help them scales the charts, Suzuki now intends to increase its market share to 15%.
Introducing the 110 cc Let's in Bangalore, Atul Gupta, Executive Vice President, SMIPL told reporters, "Currently in Karnataka we have 16 per cent market share, nationally we have 12 per cent. Karnataka is more than our national average and it is a very important market for us. We are looking at one lakh unit (sales) for this particular product, so for Karnataka we are looking at 22 per cent market share, but in terms of all India we wish to take it to 15 per cent."
Giving more information on various regional launches of the scooter, he said, "We started with Tamil Nadu, followed by Kerala and Karnataka, now we will go to the Western part of the country. Then go to the East in the middle of June and then we will go North."
