After launching three major products in 2017 (Hexa, Tigor, and Nexon), Tata Motors is now setting the stage for its upcoming vehicles at the Auto Expo 2018. At the Tata’s pavilion, we will get to see some of the prominent models slated for launch in the coming months. While the company has already teased these vehicles, concrete details will be revealed at the biennial event. Here is a list of the upcoming Tata cars at the Auto Expo 2018, have a look.
Tata Nexon AMT
Tata launched the sub-compact SUV in India last year in September at an aggressive price point in both petrol and diesel versions. The model, however, missed out on the AMT unit and is currently offered only with a manual gearbox. It is expected that Tata will bring the AMT equipped Nexon to the Auto Expo 2018. The AMT gearbox could be available on the mid-spec XTA and the top-spec XZA variants. In terms of pricing, the Tata Nexon AMT is likely to undercut arch-rival Ford EcoSport.
Tata H5 SUV
Tata Motors is developing a premium SUV, codenamed H5, which will share underpinnings with the Land Rover Discovery Sport L550. In tandem with other popular models in the segment, the Tata H5 will be offered with 5-seat and 7-seat layouts. It is expected that Tata will source the 2.0-litre, MultiJet diesel engine from FCA, for the new H5. This is the same unit that currently powers the Jeep Compass. The new Tata H5 will carry a raft of technical-aides such as in-car connectivity features, multiple driving mode options, etc.
Tata Motors is planning to foray in the premium hatchback segment with Tata X451. Interestingly, it would be the first model from Tata to be based on its new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP. Engine choices on the premium hatchback are likely to include the 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel from the Nexon line-up.
New Tata LCV
Along with the new models in the passenger segment, the company is also expected to display a new light commercial vehicle. Details on the LCV are yet hazy, and we expect the home-grown car giant to divulge concrete information at the biennial event.
Tata Tigor Electric
The Tigor EV is expected to share the stage with other Tata cars at the Auto Expo 2018. The carmaker is currently manufacturing Tigor EVs to be supplied to the state-run EESL. Details on the mechanical front are yet sketchy, but it is expected to use the same liquid-cooled, 85kW electric motor good for 200Nm torque, that is used in the Tiago electric.
In addition, the homegrown car giant will showcase 26 Smart Mobility Solutions that will be seen in its future vehicles. The carmaker will also unveil the evolved IMPACT Design 2.0 for the passenger vehicles and CV segments. Tata’s humongous pavilion at 2018 Auto Expo will be divided into Residential, Sports, Smart, Inter and Intracity zones.
