Jeep is the only brand to make its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. Jeep is part of the FCA (Fiat-Chrysler Alliance) and will launch the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs in India. While the Grand Cherokee is one of the best SUVs in the world today, it's the Jeep Wrangler that is the face of the Jeep brand and SUVs across the globe.
Mahindra and Mahindra, the homegrown automajor took a bold step to buy Pinnifarina, the legendary car designing house known for Ferrari designs. And what's the first product they come up with? With the launch of the Polo GT in India, Volkswagen initiated the trend of hot hatches in the country. While many hot hatch have been launched henceforth, none could actually match the overall package the Polo GT offers. But it seems VW is not happy with this segment too, and now they are all set to launch the ultra-powerful Polo GTI housing 1.8-litre 180+ bhp in the country! Expect it to be priced at Rs 20 lakhs!
While Duster can be easily credited as the most successful Renault model in India, it's actually the Kwid that brought the company into much limelight. And why it shouldn't be? It's the first credible entry-level hatchback that can give tough competition to the numero-uno Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 in India. And now, Renault is all set to charge the markets with the 1.0-litre AMT Kwid, to be pitched against automatic Maruti Suzuki K10.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has just been awarded the most talked about car during the Auto Expo 2016, and rightfully so. While the S-Cross couldn't create much buzz among the rapidly growing compact SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki is relying heavily on the Brezza to do wonders for them. Only time will tell if they are successful in doing so, but going by the first look, it surely looks good.
A surprise entry to the list is the Isuzu DMax V-Cross lifestyle truck. The double cabin, 4*4 lifestyle truck imitates the beasty body-types of the American pickup trucks, and surely looks good. Isuzu aims at Rs 15 lakh mark to launch the Dmax, making it a lucrative offer in this segment, which otherwise only has the Tata Xenon XT to offer.
The most budget friendly Jaguar to be ever launched has finally made its way to India. Jaguar-Land Rover has just launched the XE sedan in India for Rs 39.9 lakhs, making it a very lucrative offer if one is planning for a luxury sedan. The Jaguar XE will compete directly against the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3-series.
Honda BR-V is the newest compact SUV/crossover from the stable of Japanese car manufacturer, that boasts of 7-seats. If priced right, which we expect to be around Rs 8-10 Lakhs, Honda BRV can create a major buzz in the market. Once launched, it will compete directly against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster, albeit with an advantage of 7 seats.
Ever since its launch, Toyota Innova has been the darling of MPv segment and anyone who is looking for an affordable 7-seater looks no further than the Innova. Toyota has finally decided to give a full facelift to the MPV and it will known as the Innova Crysta in the domestic market. And going by the crowd it pulled, we are sure it's going to replicate its the success of first generation Innova.
Tata Motors has entered a different league altogether with their new design and product approach. Starting from Bolt and Zest, they moved to Nano GenX and now Zica (name to be changed) and Kite 5 sedan.
