The Sony PlayStation has been a very popular gaming console worldwide. It has come a long way from the little white first generation PlayStation to what it is now. With all these generations, more power and features were added to the PlayStation console. Every time a new generation of this console came out, the games got even better to make full use of the hardware at their disposal. There are a lot of games available on this platform that would cater to the automobile enthusiasts. Here we have listed some of our very favourite games for the PS4 that would keep the petrol head inside you happy.
Need For Speed: Rivals
This is the latest game in Need For Speed line-up. This time Ghost Games have taken up the job of making a Need For Speed title and they have done a pretty good job of it. This reminds a bit of the Hot Pursuit that came out a couple of years back. In this game you can play as both racers and cops while riding up the career ladder. There is a lot of car tech and gadgets to be seen here as well like we have seen on past games of the series. Like the Hot Pursuit, there are a lot of job in your plate. Not only you have to drive without making mistakes going perfectly around corners and avoiding cops but also handle all the gadgets along with this. You end up operating on instincts as your tactics go down the drain.
What makes this game particularly exciting is the gamble you have to make every time between reward and risk. The longer you are being chased by cops, the more multipliers you earn on the speed points. These points are required for new vehicles and parts on your old ones. But just like NFS Most Wanted, higher heat means aggressive cops and you run at a risk of losing all the points you made in this run. It is really fun to give the cops a nice run and escape closely to save your speed points. While the game offers really nice gameplay, the graphics don’t really feel like a huge upgrade over past couple of NFS games. Ignore that fact and this game will keep you hooked for many hours.
The Need For Speed series has been around for a long time and is pretty good but there are times when you need a bit more real experience. This game takes the game to track and instead of giving you the option of tinkering around with vinyls and spoilers, it tries to connect you to the track and give you a superb racing experience. The game has a very simple menu layout and a large number of side objectives and challenges are embedded in races directly.
At times you will think that it is a proper focussed driving simulator but then there are elements of an arcade style game as well. So you get nice game physics along with decent gameplay. However the artificial intelligence in this game isn’t as intelligent as it should be. The computer controlled cars go berserk if you block their way. This wouldn’t have been an issue if the game didn’t punish the player by limiting the speed and acceleration for slamming into others. This gets a bit frustrating at times and you will find yourself restarting the race at times for this reason. Also there are times when the computer gains insane speeds on the same car as you even when you are going flat-out.
While it might sound like the game has got a lot of flaws, it isn’t so. The game is very addictive and lot of fun. You get 50 cars and 55 excellent tracks to choose from with 50 different challenges. The gameplay is good and keeps you hooked to the game. It runs on PlayStation 4 so visually the game is a treat. The lighting in this game is excellent and you can choose the speed at which day passes. This allows you to try the track at different times of day. This game is PlayStation exclusive and would definitely keep you engaged for a long time.
There aren’t many games available for the PS4 as it is a relatively new platform and developers have to start ground up. It is the same story with the recently launched Xbox One. The game in question here, called The Crew hasn’t been officially launched yet but all that we have seen and heard tells us that is could possibly be the biggest game of PS4. The best part about this game is that it can have unlimited players for the online play and there is no limit to it.
It is not just the headcount that would be huge but also the maps. The preview that we have seen yet has got just a small part of the game and it is just a hint of what is coming. But the actual game will have almost 10,000 kms of road which makes it massive. The cars have been tuned to bring the experience as close to the actual cars as possible and they have also worked to make them behave correctly on different kind of surfaces. So you get very different experiences just by mix and match method.
The world of game unfolds as you make progress. They have added almost the entire America and different areas are unlocked as chapters. Along with these new chapters, you get new missions, new content, new cars and entirely new ways of playing the game. If you are worried that with such a large area, you will be wasting a lot of time between challenges, you are wrong as they have managed to hit the sweet spot here. There are different type of events in the game along with different tracks and vehicles. Using these elements in different combinations, you can cook up just about any kind of race you could think of. The complete game will arrive in the month of December.
