In India, nothing changes much in the sales space with regards to the top five cars, which generally has products only from Maruti and Hyundai. Just like the last time, February too, has four cars from Maruti and one from Hyundai. Position for top three spots remains unchanged. Maruti Alto retains the crown with sales of 19524 units followed by Dzire and WagonR that sold 16613 and 13555 units respectively.
In the fourth spot, Hyundai Grand i10 sold 12862 units, ahead of Maruti Swift only by a whisker which sold 12328 units.
Relative sales number of cars and their position may have not changed much but overall sales were down in comparison to the month of January.
This can be seen from the sales comparison chart (on the side) and data (present below). Sales of Alto and Swift were down by around 15% while Dzire and WagonR saw a drop of 9.2 and 8.2 percent. Sales of Grand i10 were hit only marginally and saw a drop of 1.1%.
Impact could also been seen in the overall sales number of all top manufacturers which registered sales drop.
Maruti registered the biggest drop in sales and saw a drop of around 9.8% in sales and overall share of the market now reduced to around 48% down from 51% (in January).
Honda registered drop of 6.6% followed by Tata which registered a drop of 4.9%. Mahindra saw a marginal drop of 0.9% while Hyundai registered growth at 0.7%.
