A boring day in Office can turn out to be a rather interesting one, if you are willing to open the gates of your mind and think creatively. Now that I was sitting in the office, bored, I thought, what would a CEO of any manufacturer do with boredom? While planning new products can be one of the things in their minds, they also think about rather interesting products.
Case-in-point, Rolls Royce who also manufacturers turbine engines for commercial airplanes and Bugatti makes luxury and expensive yatch. Then some manufacturers have a merchandise lineup like Ferrari and Lamborghini. But some of them manufacturers make weird (weird because the products are completely different) things too, completely opposite to their core competency.
So here's a list of some craziest products made by famous car manufacturers!
Honda - ASIMO Humanoid
Who doesn't love the idea of a fully functional human-robot or Humanoid (as they are popularly known as) strolling around our streets? A scene from a typical sci-fi movie, isn't it? Well, Honda can very well make this a reality in the near future and the ASIMO robot is a proof. ASIMO, an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility is the most future oriented and sought-after humanoid in works today. And why are we so confident about it? Because we have met one! Duhhh...
Volkswagen - Sausage and Ketchup
What two things we love the most? Fast cars and exotic food! And so Volkswagen is the perfect brand for us. You may ask why? Well, because they produce sausages along with cars. Drooling already? Volkswagen has a successful sausage business and in 2014 alone, they sold 7.8 million pieces. As compared, they were able to sell 6.1 million cars in the same time period. And then, if you need a tomato ketchup with sausages, you can buy a VW one too.
Bugatti - Hookah
Bugatti not only manufacturers world's fastest car (a lot of debate on it), it is also known for its engineering brilliance. One fine day, they came up with an idea to build something sophisticated and ultra-expensive, like their cars, and they ended up collaborating with Desvall, a Swedish Shisha pipe manufacturer. Yes, give it another look, a Shisha pipe, or Hookah as it is commonly known as! Made of carbon fibre and titanium, this particular Bugatti Hookah costs somewhere around $100,000, enough to force you to give up smoking.
Peugeot - PepperMill
Well, this is one is no surprise and Peugeot is also famous for its Peppermills apart from cars in Europe. The French car manufacturer started manufacturing classic wooden pepper, salt and coffee grinders way before they made cars. Manufactured first in 1840, the coffeemill stopped in 1975, following wide usage of electric coffee makers. But the peppermill still sells like hot cakes because it's the best in the market. And we don't get either of them in India!
Bentley - Barber Chair
Now that you had a your share of surprise reading about the brands above, here's a hammer on the nail. Your favourite and uber-luxury British car manufacturer is in business of manufacturing barber chairs too. Well, not literally, but almost! Bentley collaborated with Pankhurst London, one of the finest and renowned barber shops in London, U.K. And what does Bentley provides them? Bespoke barber chairs finished with the same leather and wood used to build the cabin of Bentley cars, ensuring these chairs are the best one to have a haircut? So when are you planning one?
