The 14th edition of Asia’s largest motoring event, Auto Expo began on February 7th, 2018, in Greater Noida. On the first day of the 14th biennial event, car majors unveiled and launched some of the most awaited products, but the EVs indubitably stole the show. A slew of all-new electric vehicles was unveiled at the event and while all of them seem promising, here we bring you the top five electric cars at the Auto Expo 2018, read on to know more.
1. Suzuki e-Survivor Concept
Built on the ladder-frame chassis, the Suzuki e-Survivor concept is a small convertible SUV, which is currently put on display at the Auto Expo 2018. The e-Survivor gets an electric motor at each wheel, implying the presence of a four-wheel-drivetrain. Prior to the Auto Expo, the concept was revealed at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Touted to be a serious off-roader, it boasts of a high ground clearance, chunky wheel arches, fat tyres and minimal overhangs.
2. Tata Tiago EV
Tata Motors has revealed some prominent products at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018 including the Tiago EV. Alongside the EV version of the hatchback, the company has also displayed the Tigor EV. Both the models get share copious elements barring some details. On the outside, Tata has added blue decals on the flanks and the additional EV badge. While on the inside, there is a unique knob-like gear lever that differentiates it from the standard version. In mechanical terms, both the models get a 3-phase AC induction motor with 30kW.
3. Hyundai Kona EV
Hyundai took the wraps off its highly anticipated Hyundai Kona SUV which is currently on display at the Auto Expo 2018 to gauge customer response before its apparent India launch. In terms of styling, the Kona electric features Hyundai’s ‘Cascade’ grille, sleek LED DRLs, sharp lines at the flanks and cladding around the wheel arches. The insides make use of elements that lend it a premium look. It gets a floating infotainment screen, a Head-up display, etc. While mechanical details are still sketchy, the electric SUV is likely to offer an impressive range of 300km in one full charge.

4. Mahindra KUV100 EV
Pioneering the EV segment in India, Mahindra is prepping to launch a string of new models, in line with India’s target to go all electric by 2030. At the on-going biennial event, Mahindra unveiled several electric models including the e-KUV100. The KUV100 electric is primarily an electric version of the standard model.
5. Hyundai Ioniq EV
Another electric model from the Korean car giant that grabbed eyeballs at the Auto Expo 2018 is the Ioniq sedan. Hyundai has brought both, the EV and Hybrid version of the model at the biennial event. As for the Hyundai Ioniq EV, it is powered by an electric motor with 120bhp and 295Nm torque. It achieves the 0 to 100km/h mark in 9.9 seconds and is claimed to offer a top speed of 165km/h. In terms of features, the Ioniq EV gets a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, and smart cruise control, etc.
