World Ranking - 34
The biggest Indian car manufacturer is also the most powerful Indian automobile brand according to Brand Finance. Maruti Suzuki India saw a jump of seven ranks from the 41st spot in 2016 to 34th rank in the 2017 study. The brand value of Maruti also up from US$ 2.2 billion to US$ 2.54 billion - a healthy 14.85 percent increase. Maruti Suzuki manufactures more than a million vehicles every year and has approximately 50% of market share in terms of volume.
World Rank - 45
India's largest Utility vehicle manufacturers is also the second most powerful automobile brand in the country. Mahindra & Mahindra gained 9 places to feature at the 54th rank of the world's most powerful automotive brands as against the 54th position last year. As per Brand Finance's latest valuation, M&M's brand value is US$ 2.07 billion in 2017, as compared to US$ 1.58 billion last year, a massive 31 percent year on year growth. M&M is actively involved in supporting Defence forces too, and has recently acquired the Pinninfarina design firm from Italy.
World Rank - 60
The third most powerful auto brand of India, happens to be the 60th most powerful brand in the world - the Hero MotoCorp. The Pawan Munjal led two-wheeler manufacturer expanded its reach to markets like South America and invested heavily in developing in-house R&D capabilities. Hero Motocorp was on the 66th position in 2016 and saw a rise of six positions to reach the 60th spot. Currently, the company is in the process of upgrading its current portfolio from BS III to BS IV compliance to meet the April 1 deadline.
4. Tata Motors
World Rank - 65
Another indigenous automobile manufacturer from India, Tata Motors is the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the country and is also the fifth largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in India. Tata Motors featured on the 65th position, same as the last year. The owner of Jaguar-Land Rover has also announced a partnership with Microsoft to enhance connectivity in the cars. Tata Motors has a wide range of new-age cars waiting to be launched in 2017. So expect an improved rating in 2018.
5. Bajaj Auto
World Rank - 68
Last on our top 5 list is yet another two-wheeler manufacturer - Bajaj Auto, who jumped five ranks to take the 68th position this year, from 73th position in 2016. Bajaj Auto sells Kawasaki and KTM bikes in India and taking cues from its partner KTM, Bajaj launched the Dominar 400 in the country, at a very attractive price range. Bajaj is also the first two-wheeler manufacturer in India to upgrade its existing portfolio to BS IV emission norms before the deadline.
