Toyota Glanza got its christening last week; the new model has been developed with Maruti Suzuki. Starting with Baleno, Toyota will re-engineer other Maruti Suzuki models as well, in the coming future. Toyota also released a short teaser video of the new hatchback model and though the Toyota Glanza launch date is not confirmed yet, it is expected to launch in June 2019. Expect the bookings of the model to commence in coming weeks, prior to its launch. But before you go for any other model, let us tell you top five things about the upcoming Toyota Glanza.
Styling similar to Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Going by the teaser video and also recently leaked images of the model, the car seems to get subtle changes. The front grille is chrome finished and is different from the Baleno’s, projecting more about Toyota’s styling. While the teaser video does show a proportion of side profile that still remains the same, even the set of alloy wheels, but the centre cap gets a Toyota badge, instead of Maruti Suzuki.
Coming to the rear end, there are few changes such as a Toyota logo slapped on the boot with a Glanza badging on the left side and the model’s images speak of itself as a ‘V’ variant, which is most likely a corresponding version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s Alpha variant. As per the speculations, Toyota will offer the Glanza hatch in two variants – V and G, where the G variant will be positioned below the V trim, which is Maruti Baleno’s Zeta version based.
Toyota Glanza interior details are not out yet, but it is likely to come with few tweaks that will be minnow as well.
Petrol Engine offering only
As far as the engine specification of the Toyota Glanza is concerned, it will be offered with the petrol engine only. The engine is the recently launched 1.2-litre petrol unit and there is no diesel version on offer as mentioned earlier. Talking of the transmission duties, it will be carried with the same 5-speed manual and a CVT unit. The engine set up is also Maruti-sourced that recently introduced on the Baleno. What comes in question is that this 1.2-litre unit will be the new DualJet engine or the regular 1.2-litre motor that also caters on the recently launched Wagon R, Swift, Baleno and Dzire.
To be offered in two variants
As mentioned earlier, the new hatchback Glanza variants will be offered in two grades – V and G variant. The G trim will be offered just as feature-filled as the Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno Zeta model, positioned under the top-spec V version will similar to the Alpha variant.
Toyota warranty packages
What’s more interesting will be Toyota is expected to offer a three-year or 1,00,000 km standard warranty, in order to make it more luring offering for the Indian buyers. Now, comparing this to the Maruti Suzuki’s two-year or 40,000 km standard warranty, Toyota seems a more ensuring product here. What else Toyota is also expected to offer is its extended warranty packages with its True Warranty that can be easily availed within the span of the regular warranty and more.
Prices to be higher
The Toyota Glanza on road price in India will definitely go higher than the Baleno hatchback. So that simply marks that the base Glanza G variant will be priced more than it’s rival like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. We can expect the price difference to range within Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 compared to the other contenders in the segment.
Toyota Glanza will be the very first product from the house of Toyota and also in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki. Then after, both the Japanese brand has further made the alliance strong in their recent announcement, where Maruti Suzuki will provide Toyota with other models like the Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, and the Eritga MPV.
