UM Renegade Cruiser range to top around 1.75 lakhs Ex-Showroom!
Snapshot: With a portfolio that seems perfect for India, UM plans to price its range aggressively too!!
It is a well known fact that UM will be launching three variants from its UM Renegade range of cruisers at the Auto Expo 2016. The models will be named as Renegade Commando, Renegade Classic and Renegade Sport S and as we had earlier suggested, the price range of these bikes will max out around INR 1.75 lakhs Ex-Showroom New Delhi. Also, as already reported earlier, UM Global is launching its range in India on February 3rd, 2016 at the Auto Expo 2016.
With the recent unveil of the all new Renegade Sport S, a bike that should be the flagship for UM Global in India it is evident that UM Global is eyeing squarely towards the market of Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and the Thunderbird 500 while also gunning for the Classic series and the Bullet 500 from the Chennai based iconic motorcycle maker too. Also, there have been news regarding a smaller Renegade that should compete with the Avenger from Bajaj Auto in the segment of entry level Cruisers, however that will be launched later in the year.
The UM Renegade Sport S looks menacing in its sporty big cruiser like appearance, and is powered by a single cyclinder 279cc engine that pushes out 25bhp of power and a peak torque of 22Nm. The engine is said to be built strong enough to withstand each and everything the Indian weather and conditions can throw at it and with a claimed localisation content of more than 60% from the day of launch should mean that the Lohia- UM alliance will have aggressive price to mark some early blows to its well established competition. It should be noted that UM is targeting 3000 units/month sales initially in Indian market.
Furthermore, the bookings for the UM Global products will start from February 3rd, 2016 from the moment of launch itself, while the deliveries will begin by end of March 2016. At the time of launch, UM Global will start off with a commendable dealer count of 40 which is expected to grow up to 50 by April 2016.
