What awaits you on September 9?

Snapshot: With KTM-Bajaj ready to release two of its much awaited motorcycles, India awaits a yet another historic move from the Austrian manufacturer

Bajaj has officially announced that it is going to launch the two highly anticipated motorcycles of recent time - KTM RC 200 and RC 390 - in Pune on September 9. Internet has been flooding with the spy shots of both these motorcycles from last few months and people who know what KTM Duke 390 is capable of will know what is coming their way. Some websites have gone ahead and said that the RC 390 will have a new gearbox which will let it cross the 200kmph barrier, but we have no proof of this whatsoever. The bookings are expected to start from the day it is launched and KTM-Bajaj is expected to deliver the motorcycles by October sometime. The RC 200 will be more or less the same setup that is found on the Duke 200 with no major developments. Unlike the previous versions, both the bikes will flaunt an orange frame and orange alloys and, according to the pictures, should come preloaded with a set of Metzelers which were earlier found only on the Duke 390. Prices will be revealed on September 9 but we assume that the faired version will cost 40-50 thousand extra than the naked version. Some additional weight also will happen which will hamper the power-to-weight ratio the Dukes enjoy. The engine on the RC 200 will be a 200cc, single cylinder which can produce a maximum of 25bhp of power and maximum torque of 19Nm. The RC 390 will have an engine that is 373cc and churning out a maximum power of 43bhp and maximum torque of 35Nm. Both the bikes will be six-speed and will come with USD forks in the front. The bikes also will have a brand new 9.5 litre fuel tank and revised foot pegs for that aggressive stance that will let you dive into the corners with more enthusiasm. Clip on handlebars will make the bikes true-blue maniacs on the track. The RC 390 has a shorter wheelbase than its Duke counterpart, more ground clearance, higher seating and slightly lesser fuel carrying capacity.
