Yamaha will bring 2015 YZF-R1 to India in 2015 H2!!

Snapshot: Soon, the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 will touch our shore...

Start saving people, for Yamaha has plans to bring their Technological Powerhouse of an upgrade to the Iconic YZF-R1 for 2015, to India. An all new machine from Yamaha, the new YZF-R1 is a giant leap forward from Yamaha, with its eyes squarely on dominating the race track, throughout all racing leagues. At the core of the new R1 is a new crossplane motor, now dubbed the CP4 engine, which is producing 200hp without ram-air. The engine features titanium fracture-split con-rods, 10.5 litre airbox, titanium exhaust, and a slipper clutch to boot. For the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 though, the story is really all about the electronics. Packed with zeros and ones, the new Yamaha YZF-R1 features traction control, slide control, launch control, wheel-lift control, and anti-locking brakes.

Added to the luxuries is a bright TFT display and LED headlights. Optionally available is the communication control unit (CCU), which allows a rider to download GPS data, and upload ride settings to the R1. Priced at $16,490 in the United States, the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 comes in Yamaha Blue/White, Raven Black, and Red/White color schemes. For anyone who has been up-close with the Yamaha YZR-M1, Yamaha’s MotoGP bike, then there are obvious design cues that you can see carried over to the new street bike. The airbox cover is gilled, the air intake is squared, with the pointy nose slightly covering it, making it look like a collapsed pentagon.

Recently Yamaha had officially announced the UK prices for its flagship litre-class motorcycle, the YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M. Unveiled at this year’s EICMA motor show in Milan, the new YZF-R1 has been priced at 18,495 euro in Europe which, after the currency conversion, works out to about Rs 14.11 lakh. The track-spec YZF-R1M on the other hand has been priced at 22,995 euro, which comes up to about Rs 17.51 lakh in Indian currency.

Now the reports are coming in that the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is on its way to India and the bike would be launched in India by March followed by advance bookings, while deliveries would follow in another 30-45 days.

The new R1 is expected to be priced INR 3-4 lakhs higher than the outgoing model, which is currently priced at INR 15.6 lakh (ex-showroom) due to the major upgrades which have been installed to the new motorcycle.
