Bajaj Chetak Electric Overview

After a rigorous effort, Bajaj Auto Ltd has finally launched its first-ever electric two-wheeler vehicle. Bajaj has revived the Chetak name with the launch of the scooter. Bajaj is placing this scooter as a premium product in the market with a full metal body and retro yet elegant styling. Bajaj Chetak is available in two variants, namely Urbane & Premium. The Urbane is the affordable one and the Premium is the upper trim of the scooter. The difference between the trims is of some styling and a disc brake. Bajaj Chetak price is Rs. 1 lakh for the Urbane variant and Rs. 1.15 lakhs for the Premium variant.

Bajaj Chetak Electric Styling & Comfort

Bajaj Chetak exteriors follow a clean and minimal design language with no angular lines. Bajaj has played safe with the design and build of the scooter, all the body panels are made of steel and all of the lines have been kept subtle. At the front, there is a pentagonal LED headlight with Daytime Running Lamp running around it, elegantly designed rearview mirrors, multi-spoke 12-inch alloys,  LED turn signal lamp. Talking of the rear, is the split LED tail lights, sequential turn indicators which are also LED and a pillion grab rail. The instrument console looks retro due to the circular housing but is all digital and it shows vital information to the driver such as battery level, speedometer, odometer and much more. There are buttons placed on the handlebars to select the drive as the scooter also gets a reverse assist function which is an added bonus. Bajaj is also featuring connected features with the Chetak like remote immobilizer and geo-fencing. The scooter gets a keyless entry for added convenience. The seat is big and wide and can comfortably accommodate the rider and the pillion. There is a glove box space below the handlebar to store the charger of the scooter while the charger will be plugged in just behind the pillion seat. The touch electronic switches feature feather touch activation and the glove box also houses a USB port which can charge your mobile phone.

Bajaj Chetak Electric Performance and Handling

Bajaj Chetak's top speed is 60kmph. The performance from the battery should be peppy and quite good considering that the scooter goes into the Sport mode automatically when the rider opens up the throttle for a quick overtake. In such a scenario the scooter stays in Sport mode and then automatically shifts back to the Eco mode after some time. The ride quality of the scooter should be absorbent. Bajaj has also given special attention to the monsoon season of India and made the battery IP67 water-resistant.
