In fact, the Indian automobile market is overwhelmed with commuter bikes. The brands like Hero, Honda and Bajaj are major players in the commuter segment. The home grown bike manufacturer, Bajaj is filling the gap which Pulsar left with the launch of Discover series of bike. The Discover series has acquired lot of attention in the commuter segment with its fuel efficiency and high performance for affordable prices. Currently, the Bajaj have four variants under the successful Discover series and they include Discover 150, Discover 125, Discover 125 ST and Discover 100. The company has equipped with best bike engine technologies to Discover series of bikes, which mainly aims at the mileage and performance.
Bajaj Discover Engine & Transmission
In the year 2004, the Bajaj has slated to launch the first bike under Discover lineup. The Bajaj Discover 125 cc is the first bike and it is currently available in various up-gradations. In the year 2007, the company has launched Discover 135 cc, a powerful bike in the commuter segment.Soon, the company has launched a 150 cc powered engine version of this bike. In the recent times, the company has unveiled the first Discover to sport a quarter fairing. The company may call this new bike as Bajaj Discover 150F, where the F stands for front fairing. The Discover 150F will be powered by a newly developed 150cc DTS-i, single cylinder, twin-spark, air-cooled engine with 4-valve tech. The new mill is expected to deliver 14PS of peak power and a maximum torque of 12Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox, so it will be adequate for city commuting.The Discover 125 was a true revolution in commuter biking. It is available in four variants including Discover 125 disc, Discover 125 Drum, Discover 125 ST and the Discover 125 T Drum. The Discover 125 comes with an air-cooled, 4-stroke, DTS-i engine with a displacement of 124.6cc. The mill is coupled with The Digital Twin Spark Ignition technology which is capable to churn out 10.85bhp of power at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 10.8Nm at 5500rpm.In the year 2012, the Bajaj Discover 100 4G has been launched and it still continue to grab the attention of its consumers with its highly fuel efficient engine. The Bajaj Discover 100 T,Discover 100 and Discover 100 M are three more models in this category. The Discover series is loaded with DTS-i technology for combustion and produce maximum power. Bajaj Discover 100 T is powered by a 102 cc DTS-i, 4-valve, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine and it churns out 10bhp of power at 9000 RPM and a peak torque value of 9.2Nm at 6500 RPM, while, the Discovery M is equipped the same 102cc, four-stroke, carburetor engine coupled with an auto-choke.
Bajaj Discover Mileage
When it comes to mileage, Bajaj Discover models have proved to be very efficient. The mileages that these models offer have helped them become preferred models for the target group. Bajaj Discover 125 scores a fuel efficiency of 70 kmpl. Bajaj Discover 135 DTSi-KS offers a mileage of 65 kmpl, while Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi-ES renders a mileage of 70 kmpl. Bajaj Discover 135 DTSi-ES and Bajaj Discover 135 DTSi-ES offer 65 kmpl and 65 kmpl respectively.
