Ducati Multistrada Overview

If you have over constipation wondered which bike to roam around in this country, money no bar, chances are this bike would have topped the list. Ducati's foray into go anywhere adventure bike is a masterstroke in combing power with wandering ability. This is a sports bike that feels and more importantly can go anywhere. There is enough power, enough suspension travel and more than enough electronic aids to cocoon you from anything that the big bad world can throw at you.

A brilliant bike. Quite possibly the only bike with that much power and performance on tap that can go Leh without breaking you or itself. The only competition to this bike is the BMW R1200GS and maybe SUVs, but be assured you will beat both of them in any line straight or curved.

Ducati Multistrada Engine & Transmission

The engine is a 1200 cc L-twin mated to a six speed gearbox. The engine is a peach of a unit with none of the quirks that usually plague big v-twins. Add to that enough electronic thing majigs that could shame some very high-tech German sedans.

The engine has too much grunt all along its power band and the transmission is mostly prepared to deal with all of it. The bike comes with modes that can help you with using the power based on the quality of tarmac. Needless to say the engine and transmission is top notch. Maybe the BMW's adventure offering is a bit smoother but this is definitely livelier.

Ducati Multistrada Mileage

The bike hasn't been tested for mileage yet, but expects around 15 kms to a litre but with a giant 20 litres of tank that is good enough for you to carry on your adventure without having to take a break too often.

Anyways chances are you will get tired of the scenery before this bike runs out of fuel.

Ducati Multistrada Performance and Handling

In one word mind boggling. This is a Land Rover Defender on steroids. The bike makes around 150 bhp and depending on how brave you are you choose to use all of them or some of them.
The bike comes with nifty modes that restrict power to the back wheel depending on the condition of roads. The performance is accessible across the wide rev range and across a multitude of terrain.

The bike is no slouch in sprinting stakes too, doing a good job at giving the more focussed bikes a genuine scare. This bike can go across the length and breadth of this country without you having to worry about mundane stuff like ground clearance. The bike comes in various models and depending on whether you want to tame the Himalayas or the desert you can choose one.
