Hero Karizma ZMR Overview
Hero Honda Karizma, a sports bike that all of us admired at one point in the past, had the looks and feel. In fact, when I was a child, it was the only bike that I saw having a speedometer till 200 kmph, which really made me like the bike. Now, when the company is Hero Motorcorp, the Karizma continues to be there flagship. The bike is now addressed as Karizma ZMR. Talking about the design, the fairing around the headlamp and the wind deflector look too tall, and the combination of the headlamp and turn indicators is quite awkward. The good news is that the ZMR is still a nice and well-made motorcycle.
Hero Karizma ZMR Engine & Transmission
The bike has an updated 223 cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, Full Transistorized Ignition System (DC-FTIS), fuel-injection, oil-cooler, OHC-based engine with a maximum power of 20 bhp at 8000 rpm and a maximum torque of 19.7 Nm at 6500 rpm, which is up by 1 Nm in comparison to the 2013 model of Karizma ZMR. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with the multi-plate wet clutch, which adds to its easy-going nature.
Hero Karizma ZMR Breaking and Safety
The bike comes equipped with an interactive and chatty digital screen. Sure, the screen displays a lot of information and real-time fuel-efficiency indicator can be erratic at times.
Hero Karizma ZMR Mileage
Thankfully, the 15 L fuel tank has been carried forward to the 2017 ZMR and the bike manages a good efficiency of 30 kmpl in the city and 40 kmpl on the highway, giving an average range of 525 km.
Hero Karizma ZMR Performance and Handling
The ZMR has a quick accelerating motor covering the 0-60 kmph run in just 3.6 seconds but for regular usage, one will rarely have to rev up this high-on torque motor. The engine on the bike is great for touring and daily commuting because of its amazing mid- and low-end responsiveness. One can easily cruise at 90-100 kmph in the 5th gear with its easy-going nature. The seat might feel tiring on those long journeys but the bike does not disappoint you at all at twists and turns. The stopping duty is handled by a 276 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear.
