Honda will soon launch a 150cc scooter “PCX 150” in near future, it will be a pretty big scooter compared to other scooters being sold in the country today, this scooter is expected to be powered by a 153cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, liquid cooled, PGM-FI petrol motor that will produce maximum power output of 13.4bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm at 5,000rpm, power will be transferred to wheel via a V-Matic automatic gearbox.
As per sources Heromotocorp will also soon launch a 150cc scooter “Hero ZIR” in two variants the flat floorboard model and a European style step thru model. It will be powered by Liquid Cooled, 4-Stroke 2 Valves OHC engine that produces the maximum power of 10.5 kW and torque of 12.7 Nm. The top speed of ZIR will be 110 kmph.
As per sources Mahindra is also planning to launch 150cc scooter but the company did not reveal anything about the upcoming product or its timeline for launch. Mahindra’s development team could surely make use of the French manufacturer’s “Peugeot” technical expertise that will benefit in the overall development of the scooter right from the build quality to the design and handling. The company had imported a few of the Peugeot scooters in November last year for R&D and display purposes and we hope to see a bit of European influence on Mahindra’s upcoming offering.
