Honda Activa 4G Overview
The Honda Activa scooter has been a sensation in the scooter segment in India. In other words, the Activa defined the way we look at scooters today. It has been one of the top-rated products in the two-wheeler market in India and has even turned out to the best-selling two-wheeler among the likes of the Hero Splendor.
The domestic market is not devoid of competition when we are talking about a commuter scooter segment. In fact, considering the Honda Activa 4G price, there is a widespread competition from models like the TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro Edge and the Yamaha Fascino.
The Honda Activa has been one of the oldest scooter brandings in India and has been doing good business since then. The scooter segment of India’s two-wheeler market has seen a good number of models coming up. However, none of them could overhaul the popularity of the Activa.
When the first Honda Activa 4G images had surfaced, it looked no different from its predecessor, the Activa 3G. It has a very conventional and orthodox in design and is more focused on being a unisex scooter.
Honda Activa 4G Engine & Transmission
The Honda Activa 4G has a very refined engine and provides a superb power delivery. Though not outright powerful, the 109.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine can make a good power of 8bhp at 7,500 revs per minute along with a high torque of 8.83Nm at 5,500 revs per minute. The power is transmitted to the wheels via a V-Matic gearbox. The power delivery is smooth and does not get any hiccups. The scooter can hit a maximum speed of around 85 km/hr, which is ample even when you are on the freeway.
Honda Activa 4G Breaking and Safety
The Honda Activa 4G gets drum brakes on both the ends. The 130 mm drum units are clubbed together to form what Honda calls the CBS (Combined Braking System).
Honda Activa 4G Mileage
The Honda Activa 4G mileage shows one of the best figures around the range. The scooter claims to have an overall fuel efficiency of 60 km/litre. However, in a practical sense, the highest mileage offered touches close to 55 km/litre, which is very much at par with most of its competitors.
Honda Activa 4G Performance and Handling
The Honda Activa 4G rides on 10-inch wheels on both the ends. The tubeless tyres help in keeping the maintenance down. However, despite having small tyres, the scooter is very much enjoyable to ride and has a good road grip. The spring-loaded Hydraulic suspension at both ends is ample for normal city rides.
Honda Activa 4G What we think
The Honda Activa 4G is presently the best bet to invest your money if you are looking to buy a value-for-money scooter. At the specific price range, there is a host of scooter models available, some more powerful while some higher in utility. However, the Activa 4G is among the very few that offer an all-round performance in all the parameters.
